50 Easy Points!

It looks like the COMMUNITY FEATURES phase of improvements is starting to fade, which means its time for GROWTH & USABILITY. Sadly this part is not as fun. And it's something that march, choco, and I simply can't do on our own. So, we're hoping you'll be able to help us out. Although I'm sure you'd all chip in out of the kindness of your own hearts, we're giving away big points for your help.

We need you to write articles. These articles will be used as part of the help system of the site, so new users won't be completely overwhelemed with all the new features (Duels, Messages, etc). An article needs to give a good overview of its topic and provide enough detail to make sure someone understands and knows how to use the feature (or whatever) you're writing about.

Here's a good example of what would be an article: http://myadventuregame.com/forums/message.asp?MessageId=1110. Note that it's not just a list of 10 declartive sentances: there's an intro paragraph, each item has some decent points.

With that said, each article you pen (that we accept/approve) gets 50 points. They will go into the help & tips section and linked throughout the site. Here's a list of articles needed:

- MAG Points
-  Duels
- Private Messages
- Game Basics (not how to use editor, but like how its divided into pages, links, etc)
- My Pictures (how to upload, use, etc)
- Forums Overview

You can email me your article as a word document or whatever. Soon, there will be a page that lets you write articlses. But while I work on that, you can work on writing articles.

Any questions, please ask.

My moderators Article goes into Forums Overview, PAY UP!!  lol.  I'm serious though.   Can I just put an Article in the Newbie Central?  Since its Helping them?

That's not an article, a feature request. But it's the right length for an article.

All articles will be in the ARticles section (non existant), but y0ou can definitely link and refer to them n stuff.

pretty simple and fast, dont want points for it but here it is:

My Pictures

While in the process of creating a game, you may find that a picture or image can help describe the setting of the game, or just plainly show what the hecks going on. The My Pictures tab is used for uploading pictures and displaying pictures. To upload a picture, all you do is click the "Upload a New Picture" button, enter a title in the text area (titles help the author enter in the image through the "Enter Image" dialoge box in the editor). Then you click browse and find the file your looking for and select it. Click upload and your down. Remember there are some restriction to uploading pictures, the dimensions and type of image. It must be a jpeg or GIF image and must be within (alexp insert dimensions here please).

Its as easy as that.

A bit short, but on the right track. We're thinking, like atleast a few paragraphs. I'd include some uses for pictures:

 - how they help your game (remember, we're here to encourage ppl to make games)
 - you can use as avatar

Also, when giving instructions, it's best to break them out by steps:

1) Click here
2) Click there
3) Finally, do that.

Are you haveing difficulty rating games? Here a few reminders.

1.Rate Fairly. Don't rate 1 on a quality game!
2.Give it a +1 bonus rating for replayability.
3.Don't rate on lenth.
4.Don't rate on if you didn't like the topic.
5.Origanality is a good thing to rate. Just don't take points away for sequals.
6.Did a person ask you not to rate something on there game? Don't! They will probably change it.
7.Is there broken links?
8.How is there grammer?
9.Was the storyline easy to finish? Was there one?
10.Did you have enough choices but not to many?
*.Add your own.

3, Dont rate on length?  I dunno about that one.  A game could have perfect grammar, Awesome topic, very orginal, no broken links.  But its like three pages, do yougive it a 7, or even a 5? And number 6 Not to rate something, I dunno man a game is a game and it shouldn't be published if its gonna be changed, or if it is published and goona be changed then its there problem.  Other then that good guide!

i agree with havac, lenght isnt important. have you played ocean adventure, its extremely short but if you do not figure it out, can take long. it has great story line etc.

Its more then three pages.  Its still erlatively lengthly, in the time it takes to figuer it out.
