Need a Good System

I just finished Slipstream, sadly, and am coming across a new idea that occured to me. I need help on a simple RPG system. My last one was....ok. But I want a different one, a better one. If you can help that'd be great!

There's a difference between "design a system for me" and "recommend a system."

Mason: the first thing to consider is what sort of things you're going to need the system to do. It looks like you're going with a scifi combat game, a lot like Star Wars.  The current Star Wars RPGs use a d20 system.

Actions have a difficulty.  For example, 10 is about average (since it's right in the middle.) so if you roll 10 or more on a 20-sided die, you succeed.  The roll or the difficulty can be modified by bonuses or penalties from stats and skills.

Ok, got it. I might use that. But currently this is what I've come up with: I will roll a ten-sided die to determine attack damage. I will then add to the damage your strength/dexterity/psychic will(depends on weapon type). Then I will roll a 6-sided die to see if it hit or not. Is that too unnesecary?

That seems a little backwards to me. Rolling for damage on something that might not even hit. I would roll the 'did you hit' roll first, then worry about the damage.

SKILL
MIND
LUCK
STAMINA

Roll 1D6 and add 6 to the result for the first three stats.

Roll 2D6 and add 12 to the result for the last stat.

When in a typical fight physical fight roll 2D6 and add that to your SKILL, do the same thing for your opponent’s SKILL. Highest result wins.

Damage done is based on the weapon you’re welding. A sword does 1D8 STAMINA damage for example. Wearing various armor can subtract some STAMINA damage.

If you lose all your STAMINA you die.

If it’s psychic combat, use the MIND stat instead.

LUCK is more or less a stat that can be used for various tests. Successful rolls are rolling under your current LUCK level. Usually with 2D6, but add or subtract dice (or use different dice types) as needed for difficulty.

Every time it’s tested, it goes down one point.

Other stats can be tested in the same way, but you don’t subtract one point after said test in those cases.

Alter the system as needed.

Simple.

Legend is still one of my favorite CYS style games. Has been for 2-3 or so years now :P

Definitely use something simple. This is a choose your story, not Pathfinder, so it shouldn't be hard to work one out on your own.

It’s not even a system I made up, just an altered version of the old Fighting Fantasy Books from the 80s. (There was another similar book series that had a MIND & AGILITY value instead of LUCK & SKILL)

But I figure it seems simple enough for a forum RPG since a lot of people are lacking for system ideas and don’t want to use anything too complex.

Honestly I'm having trouble understanding why you guys cant actually use a legitamate system. It seems silly, honestly. Instead of creating a shitty system, use a real (free) one thats atually good. Like, there are soooooo many awesome systems out there with literally everything you could ever want/need in a game available, with proper plot and background that you can use.
