A place to sit back, hang out, and make monkey noises about anything you'd like.

Have you ever read the fine print?  Well, I was for a public college, yet I noticed something quite strange.  "The programs, services, or other activities of the College may be terminated at any time due to reasons beyond the control of the College, including—but not limited to—acts of God, natural disasters, destruction of premises, labor disturbances, governmental orders, or financial insolvency."

Notice anything odd for the reasons of cancelation?  I did. :)

I can't tell if you are joking or not.

I was joking. I think the Acts of God thing is a smart move. I guess it's for those unexplainable things that happen. Also, why not put that down in the fine print?

What about that generic disclaimer is surprising?

"The programs, services, or other activities of the College may be terminated at any time due to reasons beyond the control of the College, including—but not limited to—acts of God, natural disasters, destruction of premises, labor disturbances, governmental orders, or financial insolvency."  This is a public institution, yet they use that phrase.  It seems very out of place especially after reading the other ones.

Acts of God is a legal term for things out of human control.

I know.  It's legal stuff to cover their institute, but I simply find it very much out of place.  Plus, it would be funny to see that the legal reason for why something was terminated was because of God.

Well, it's a legal term. Sure, it's origins are very clearly in religion, but at this point it's as secularist as "goodbye".

Eh, isn't it redundant? When I think of an act of God, I think of natural disasters. You know, lighting strikes, rainbows, hurricanes, floods, etc.

I'd imagine there are things that wouldn't qualify as natural disasters but would qualify as acts of god, and vice versa. Still better to pop both in, just to be safe.

"natural disasters. You know, lighting strikes, rainbows, hurricanes, floods, etc."

...rainbows are a natural disaster?

But yeah, I do think it's a little redundant. Unless they're somehow expecting a talking burning bush, or an angel or something like that.

I imagine something like The Rapture or all the cool shit that happens during Revelations might qualify as Acts of God without qualifying as a natural disaster.

So you’re covered just in case angels and demons start crashing into your home during the second war in heaven.
