I must have miscommunicated. I do not intend to rate harshly, I intend to rate fairly. I did not mean to say that because morons are rating the best stories with 1's, I'm going to rate all these morons with 1's. However, because all ratings in life are ratings compared with other people - for instance, see grades such as A, B, C, and D on creative writing papers in college or high school - I am going to start rating comparatively. If anything, I was being too generous with previous ratings and this process will be more appropriate.
Fleshy, all due respect, your logic "if you judge other people's work harshly it will only encourage more bad ratings on your own works," if true, is a testament to the base stupidity of the human ego and its futile attempts to assert itself. I doubt you mean it like this, but your sentence has undertones of menace, stipulating repercussions for rating anything a 1.
As I said before, only a malicious jackoff can get through some of these difficult stories to rate them 1s, so I doubt I would see any difference, as people will rate it a 1 regardless. Suppose the 1's shouldn't matter to me, considering anyone with some perspective and intelligence can determine how good certain stories are in relation to each other regardless of a plethora of 1's and 2's put forth by envious or imbecilic slug-creatures, but the fact that they are anonymous 1's is pretty frustrating.
Anyway, I have no intention of continuing any argument - our perspective are obviously different - so that's all I have to say on the matter.
