I'd like to see a list of the top 50 storygames with the most ratings. If it's at all a hassle to harvest that information then just say so but if it's easy, I'm really curious.

I would like this too. It's a bit annoying that the list is random because you can't see who's there. Also, some games are shown to much and others don't get a lot of attention.

Huh? I'll just take all of those one at a time haha.

1. Click "see all top storygames" to see all top stories.

2. The ones that are 'shown to much' are the games that are rated 8 instead of 7.

3. I was talking about #of ratings, not highest rating.

1. What is that section used for anyway then? I know it shows the top games but why is the list always fluctuating?

2. Not one of my games are rated an eight but they always seem to be on the list(Not being arrogant or anything. It's just every time I look at least one of them is on the list.)

1. Which section? The first 6? Well, the stories rated 8 are always in the first 6, and then the balance of the six are filled with random 7 rated storygames.

2. Like I said, the ones you see a lot of, are the 8 rated ones. The 7 rated ones you see less frequently. I'm referring to the amount you see them on the top 6. In the "see all top storygames" full category view, you see all of the 7+8 rated storygames but the order changes because no 7 should be 'all the time' ranked higher than any other 7. Likewise, the 8's fluctuate between being 1st/2nd/3rd.

I second this. I think with having a "highest rated" category, it's only natural we should have a "most played" one too.

I don't want a category for it! First of all, where would it go? Symmetry is important. Most of all, I just think it's not needed.

I just want to see a list posted here in the forums to satiate my curiosity.

We could move newest games to the top, center it, and have "Most Played" be beside "Highest Rated". Alternatively, newest games could be centered at the bottom instead.

No, I actually don't. Why don't we also add categories for "most 8's", "most comments", "most co-authors" and "most uses of the word 'splendiferous'" while we're at it.

Because no one cares about those qualities.

Most viewed and highest rated on the other hand, are commonly desired qualities.

Most viewed has nothing to do with how good your story is and most 8's is desirable but I don't want to see a category for it.

Odds are there's a reason so many people completed your storygame rather than just exiting right away. It may not be the best way to judge which story is the best made, but it does show which are the most popular. Most 8's would just overlap in purpose with highest rated.

But Alex showed no interest in making another category anyways, so the conversation now is relatively pointless.

Weird. DZD I says 1436 ratings on the game page (http://chooseyourstory.com/story/Die_Zombie!_Die!.aspx). What do you think is causing the discrepancy?

I think people changing their ratings might be the cause.

Or maybe because it discounts ratings well outside the standard deviation.

Probably both? Who knows, it could be any number of those things. The list I gave was just raw data... and without digging through the convoluted mess that is the ratings calculation engine, I guess it shall remain remain a mystery :-)
