Story Over-Haul Help

I've written a little over 100 pages for a story I'm working on.  I feel like the overall style of it is a little too cumbersome, like as in I explained things a little too much.  Also I feel like after all of those pages the story really didn't get anywhere.

Should I stay the course or do an over-haul of my story?  I feel like I could make it a little more to the point and would help the quality of the story, it would take forever to do though.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The fact that you're considering this enough to ask means you probably already know you need to restart it. I tend to do that often with stories I write then pause for long periods of time then go back to later.

Takes time, but the end result is a more refined story.

The best bet is to wait a few days, even a week. Get fresh new eyes and maybe reread a couple stories while your at it. You should never rush these kinds of decisions, rather wait. After that if you're sure you're making the right decision, do it. Sorry, but that's all the help I can offer.

Thanks for the help you two.  I'll consider both of your points, I think I'll take another look at it, think about it, and make a decision another day.

In the meantime, good luck. May whatever choice be a good one. :)

I'm with Killa on this one. You've already noticed problems and identified them. An overhaul can be tedious but if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. There's no sense in struggling on with a story when you know you'll be unhappy with the final results.

Just, I'd recommend making sure you know where you want the story to go and make at least a basic outline and a plan for getting there, or you might do all that work just to get bogged down all over again. 'The story really didn't get anywhere' is kind of a serious issue in any situation, but doubly so when we're talking about a CYOA.

I'm expecting (hoping!) to have this weekend entirely off so drop me a PM if you want, maybe I can look over some of what you've got if more specific suggestions are what you're needing.
