Player Comments on Homo Perfectus 4
I noticed a significant increase in quality of writing between this story and the last three. There are still typos, but the language and descriptions are a lot better. There's also a lot more lore and worldbuilding, which was really lacking in the previous games, and I enjoyed the addition of it. My only annoyance is that, while the idea of having this central power control panel page seems really good, it ended up being clunky and not that useful. Avoiding spoilers, this game's plot revolved a lot less about the use of powers than the previous ones, which is neither good nor bad, but the inclusion of this very in-depth mechanic ,without many uses in the game OR a tutorial, seems pointless. Also, dark matter doesn't work like that, but that's not a big deal.
Onto the actual story (spoilers): It was cool to have a game from the perspective of Eve. It was established in either 2 or 3 that she's weaker than Adam, so it nice to see continued discussion of this, and further development of Eve's character. It was also a cool change of pace that there are allies that you can make that help you, and that there are alternatives to fighting. The theme of "the main bad guy tries to achieve perfection through genetic experiments and then realizes that HE'S the perfect one" is very similar to the plot of the LAST GAME. This is somewhat problematic, because even though the execution at the end is different, the overarching plot is almost the exact same as the previous games. I have to say that Thorne's reasoning makes more sense than Meckard's previously, but another issue with this plot line is that, despite the large amount of lore presented up to this point, Thorne's final move felt like it came out of nowhere, and didn't really have a point. Meckard was trying to kill everyone for the entire game, but Thorne just randomly goes from "Make perfect guy with genetic manipulation" to "Just mind control everyone and become that perfect guy" As I mentioned above, the powers are more neglected in this story. They seemed mostly pointless. I had my senses heightened throughout most of the game, but even in situations where I thought something could help (like hearing or vision to monitor the actions of Freakshow near the end), there wasn't a point. This also means that the final fight, where your powers are effectively nullified, doesn't feel as impactful. You have to focus all your energy on brain capacity or you die! Well, good thing that I had randomly maximized that stat earlier and hadn't changed it for 10 pages because it wasn't necessary...
Despite those negatives, the more human interaction between Eve and fellow victims of genetic experimentation was a fun path to choose, and I was glad that I could take a "nonlethal" approach. I'm unsure of whether there is a true ending or even other endings, but it was a nice "and we all live happily ever after" type of conclusion. It's also cool that Eve was very depressed at the beginning of the story, comparing herself to Adam, but as she encountered these other Imperfects, she realized that she's fine as she is, and I'm sure there's a message in there somewhere :)
TL;DR - Very solid continuation, with significantly better writing, good characters, but somewhat lacking mechanics compared to the previous games (it's also a good bit longer than the previous ones). I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Homo Perfectus 4 is the best one I've read so far, and I have high hopes for the next four of the Homo Perfectus series. As I continue to read, it only reinforces my opinion that this is the best series on the site. I'm happy that the third Homo Perfectus wasn't the last. I believe that it is amazing that the author considered the opinion of his readers and continued the story, despite stating that Homo Perfectus 3 would be the end of the series. I hope to see another one in the future, but i can imagine that it must be hard to keep coming up with different and original ideas for a new storygame.
Despite the challenges the author faces made by the language barrier, he still manages to portray the writing in a mostly smooth and complex manner, letting the story progress nicely. It could be improved but it is sufficient enough to keep the reader entertained and focused on the events of the story as they progress.
As usual, the author is very accomplished progressing the story at a timely manner with scenes of action and violence. The story evolves as the plot line continues, rising and falling with fights, puzzles, and decision making moments.
I'm sure it is well known by now that descriptive writing and paying attention to detailed information in a story has been a problem with the series, but it has slightly improved since Homo Perfectus. I still think that it should be better, and would greatly improve the story idea and the writing.
Throughout the series, we've been able to connect well with characters’ thoughts, emotions, and actions. Some characters are a bit shoved into the story, others nicely introduced as to not disrupt the mood set by the author.
Spelling and grammar are still big problems, so proofreading is very important and should be done thoroughly.

Although the powers were slightly awkward to control, the story itself was wonderful. The chracters were well developed and instead of skimming dialogue, which is something I tend to do in many stories, I read each individual character conversation and find myself finding a lot of amusement from them. The plot was nice and fun.
Well done, I didn't know how this story would turn out when the characters I've grown fond of in the other Homo Perfectus stories changed so drastically.

Most people fail to bring back an ended storyline but this not only brought it back in a non-cruddy way but actually enhanced the storyline. I thought it would be impossible to bring this back without Adam and considering he's dead it would have been completely dumb to bring it back that way. I also like how the controls are more complicated with Eve and she struggled to use her powers more in the beginning so now we can empathize with her.

Although, as other have noted, the power system is a bit hard to use, I thought the plot was well developed. In a few places I was confused as to who was speaking in some of the longer streams of dialog, so you may want to add more dialog tags. Overall great story

The game itself was great although i liked the older version of using the powers more.
One little Critique is that even as i decided to kill Freakshow the game seemed to consider him alive for a few parts.

This story is awesome. Very long and took a lot of time, but it was worth it. I love the characters and I am so happy I didn't have to kill all the experiments.
I do have one complaint however, and that is that I don't like how the abilities are used in this story. I much preferred the old way of using them, but aside from that I absolutely loved it. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading the rest.

The change of game play was a little odd at first (as it always is when you change you gaming style) but I quickly got use to the advanced controls and prefer them to the old puzzle method. This also fixes the bug that killed you by using something you couldn't. (The page reloaded and set the variable down with each new wrong click) The only complaint I have is that there is no Adem, but eve filled the hole nicely. 8/8 can't wait to finish the series!

The new powers system that replaced the previous three were more confusing and was supposed to be dangerous according to Meckard as I remember. Nevertheless, it was kind of cool and liked it as continued playing. I adored the stories of all the super-humans. I love this series. Great work!! this series is just continuing to get better. @JMgskills
Actually, this story is more linear than Hp5. In Hp5, each character has 6-18 endings, whereas there are only two in this story (aside from dying). I suspect you mean that Eve's path in Hp5 is more linear, which is true, the diversity is more in the other characters.
Also, I am surprised Killer Croc was the example you took, instead of Sammael or Abomination, who obviously play a much bigger role in this story than Scales.
Of course, whether pictures I use are known by readers or not depends on the readers. There are probably readers who are familiar with all of them and others who are familiar with none.

I like this one better than the Fifth because I have more options to choose from. I felt I had more power to choose the outcome.
One thing I suggest for this game, and the series overall, is to not use pictures that people could easily recoginze. For one of the characters, I could easily tell it's Killer Croc from The Batman Arkham Asylum video game. Me knowing that makes the character seem less than original than he actually is.
I will admit though that you have good battle scenes. It's always nice to expect a good boss fight in a series and you do well in that regard.

I'll start with the criticism, to get it out of the way: 'Powers' system was originally streamlined, intuitive and quick to use. The new one is fiddly and time consuming. At no point did I have to use a combination of powers, so the possiblilty of using them in concert is utterly redundant. The sheer faff of using the new system made me want to quit on more than one occasion.
Thankfully, the good outweighs this (Barely); it's yet another excellent Homo Perfectus story, and I really enjoyed playing it.

Promising demo
Good:
1. New power system concept, although I didn't playtest it enough to see what its effects on different encounters were- I only went through the story once (although I'm not sure if it's cool just because it's new, or because of the increased control)
2. Pictures
3. I loved the dossiers- best writing of the demo
Bad:
1. Plot is cliched
2. After I use one 50% powerup, I cannot use another one- I have to do 10% powerup 5 times- why the tedium?
3. Numerous typos and misspellings
Ugly:
1. Outside of the dossiers, your writing is mediocre. I rarely felt immersed in the plot. At times, it wasn't clear which character was speaking- probably because all the characters were stock characters and didn't really have distinct and memorable personalities.
2. It might just be that it was a demo, but some of the writing didn't make sense after what happened last. For example, duri
