Player Comments on Choose Your Disease
There wasn’t much story to this, and I was not particularly fond of what little story there was as framework, but I did actually have quite a bit of fun reading this. Maybe I just get a kick out of reading about myself being infected with horrible, third world diseases.
There was at least one tense change that irritated me as I read it, but the story was otherwise decent and readable, mechanics-wise. I do ask that the author and anyone reading this never use <3 is dialogue, please. The writing itself was nothing notable, and the framing of going to the other world could have been either expanded upon a bit or reduced to something like, “You were sent here to investigate this world after a wormhole appeared on earth.” As it was, it felt like a bother to read, and I didn’t care about it.
The story seems like a fun one to play with other people to see what diseases you all get, but it was fun to play by myself too. I do question why the main guy didn’t just say, “No thanks” and go back through the wormhole, since he didn’t seem excited about his opportunity to infect himself with diseases he would normally have to go drink from an African diarrhea river to contract.
I don’t understand why there was a choice between sexes at the beginning of the story. It had no effect on the rest of the story, and I don’t even think gendered pronouns were used. It would have been better to eliminate it altogether and just let the reader imagine what he wanted, since it didn’t matter anyway.
A lot of the one-link pages could have been combined with one another, as they were all very short, and there were not time skips in between them or anything like that that would make a new page seem more natural.
There was also a choice given whether or not to scratch your butt, but you end up doing so, no matter which you choose. It would have been just fine to say that you try to resist scratching but just can’t help yourself.
This story is a good way to kill a bit of time and learn about pathogens all at once, if that’s your interest, and it did exceed my expectations.

Fun! I am an lover of infectious disease, so this was right up my alley - I do wish that we had the opportunity to go back and get reinfected, but overall an enjoyable experience.

Definitely an interesting concept, but could use more of a story concept. What it lacks in story, it makes up for information, so good job on that aspect.

This isn't a game for pure entertainment, but for edutainment (as listed under the respective genre) and I think it's a nice, short, educational game about disease. Perhaps you could add a "loop" click so you can go back to the beginning when you arrive to the other world and try another one?

I was looking forward as to how you would describe the AIDS contraction scene. Unfortunately, there were no viruses.
Otherwise this is a respectable 3/8 game. It's not really that entertaining and there's no character development / functional plot to speak of, but it serves it's purpose well enough that it doesn't deserve to be deleted.

I got a note at the end that implied this was meant for a class. Usually I recommend leaving those in sneakpeek and just giving the links out to teachers or classmates or whoever, but in this case this was pretty well done and amusing enough, even if I do feel like the audience of people who are going to take the time to read through all the details on the diseases is a fairly limited one.
You sure did rate and praise your story a whole bunch though. Did you not realize it would attach your name? LOL, fail.

Extremely interactive and informative. I could see this used for education at all levels - could be expanded to include many infectious incidents.
