so in my story, i want to set a time limit. So i want the character to have one hour and every place he goes, it decreases by either 10, 15, or 20 minutes. How do you do this? The variables page doesn't show how to do that...i think

i can't even create a variable either

Um.....yeah, they do. On every link to a page there will be a + sign. Click it to decrease or add "TIME" variable. (To create variable go to Variables, rather simple :D).

After that, where it says "If variable reaches below *blank*", put 0 and link it to an ending page.

it says my variable isnt valid. this is what it looks like:

 

Variable name: ONE HOUR

Min value:0

max value:1hr

starting value:1hr

if value goes below 0min to go to chaper Out of time

it won't work

Um....*facepalm*.

Type this:

Name- TIME

Min value- 0

Max value- 60 (I'm talking about minutes)

Starting value- 60

If value goes below 0 go to Chapter "Out of Time".

oh yeah also how do you make it so that the "time" starts only at a certain page?

It has to. It's not an actual TIME LIMIT, it just subtracts when YOU make it subtract.

You have to make it hidden. (Go to the variable itself).

AND THEN, to make it appear on pages put %%TIME%% at the end of the page.

I've never understood why some people think variables are these magically things that will just do what you want them to do without giving them instructions.
