for both published and unpublished stories?

Hover the mouse over the 6/8 or whatever the story length is.

It's not 100% accurate because it tries to account for scripting and I think link titles too but it come pretty close.

Thanks. My story is pretty short compared to some of the others.

Also if you click publish it'll gave you a word count. If you're not ready to publish just hit cancel. I find it's a pretty good way to get a summary of your story as far as statistics go.
