Find out what's been changing with the site lately.

A word on Unfinished Games...

Hey guys, just a quick note. We have several unfinished games on the website, like telephone theory (which is actually a pretty long game with no ending) and hunting patnjoe. I think team strikeforce isn't finished either or maybe i'm wrong....
anyways, I think we should either a) delete games that are unbeatable after a set period of time after publishing (what if we had a new person come to the site, and decide to play one of those games, only to find it can't be finished? it might deter them completely from the site) or b) put a "warning" screen on the games that are not beatable (unable to leave comments) that would come maybe right before the first page of text or something... just to warn potential players who don't yet know that thye should check comments on these games to make sure they're beatable.
any thoughts?

Dear March
I don't think deleting them would be acceptable, a warning lable would be nice. At the most unpublishing them. I prefer the warning label. However there are finals coming up for the large team of programmers so I wouldn't expect rapid changes. I will unpublish any unfinished games I have in the near future.

Okay, you know that when you publish a game it will tell you the page/link count along with Warnings as to whether or not there is an END GAME link, dead ends, etc.
How about this idea ... not letting anyone publish their games unless it is atleast X links (lets pick a number), and has no Dead Ends and is beatable. What do you guys think??

nah don't like that idea...
in that scenerio Finals week wouldn't be publishable. no what I think we should honestly do is 1. restrict games that can't be beaten from being published completely and 2. go on a case by case basis to get rid of crappy/unfinished games that are beatable. O
n the idea of finishing up games with a lot of potential I love it! here's an idea though for revising the website. I think that any game that is "abandoned" for a period of 3 weeks should email the creator saying quickly "just a quick note to invite you back to our website to finish up your game!! It has so much potential, We'd love to see it finished, but you haven't been back to work on it in three weeks!!"
then warn them again after 2 months go by that the game will be deleted from the system. and delete em if they'z completely abandoned. We'll save any games that seem worthwhile. But you're right there are a lot of potential really great game ideas that are unfinished that I'd like to work on if i had the time, but we should def. email the owners first to make sure that they're done...
ideas? thoughts?

Yah I'm in agreance with the wizard of funk, I use that finished game thing to sometimes check my game, I think a simple warning of hey player about to play this game this game does not have an ending, so therefore dont play the game if you want to beat it. I was wond if the Beach has an actual ending by M superior, I dont think it does.

I think at this point we'll certainly have to look at it on a Case-By-case basis.

There are some Test games that should be deleted certainly, and some games which are really awful which we should unpublish.

I noticed that there are quite a few unpublished unfinished games that really have a lot of potential. I say that once the creative staff has a chance, they should really consider finishing up some of those games. What are your thoughts on that?
