Changing text based on variables

Anyone remember the scene in the ice cream shop of my game where a kid is hiccuping and you have to help him so he can eat his ice cream? Yes? No? ...Anyone? Eh, doesn't matter. Point is, I'd like to change / erase the text about the kid once the problem is solved and I'm not really sure how to go about it, so my question is how do I script that?
