displaying variables with $PAGETEXT

$PAGETEXT := "You're carrying %%VARIABLE%% pieces of blah blah." + $PAGETEXT

This doesn't work and that makes me sad. I wanted to put this in a global script.

So I guess I need to paste the text I want on top of every single page instead? That makes me even sadder.

Posting this on the off chance someone has the magic solution to save me from this tedium.

Yeah, On Page variables %%THING%% don't work in Scripts.
