Suggestions for improvements and additions to the site.
This feature was rejected 5/23/2007: you only get points for your first few games published. (read the EXP points under articles for more information). If a game needs to be deleted contact a mod - march, choco, or alexp.

I know this has been mentioned before, but I think stories should be able to be deleted. Especially recently, certain members are making like 10 terrible, useless, crappy, "stories" to gain points. Now the addition I speak of is that - if your story is deleted - you should lose the points you got for creating it in the first place. To demonstrate this request's necessity, I'm seriously considering making about 50 "stories" in the next hour. Luckily, I'm not a big enough ass to do that, but I'm considering.

For instance: I could create 75 pieces of CRAP in the next couple hours, publishing each one, and I would receive enough points to beat triple J.

i totally agree madglee. ive sworn off quizzes myself. how did this happen I and II atleast have a slight story line to them. but never again. i think quizzes were a bad investment for this site. we should have stuck with stories... oh well. all we can do is just move forward.

Yep, I'm not going to make any more quizzes. Forget them, I like stories and such, am going to write stories.

I'm scared.....

Heheh, well it's true, technically. Course, there's some bug because people are only getting 10 points a story instead of 25.

Knowing:

- that all of these half-rear-ended quizzes and bad stories are being made lately
- the speed that features get accepted and completed
- how fast the creators can make a member a moderator (making madglee a moderator was done quicker than making new features)

Any of these people making effortless quizzes and storygames could become mods themselves (Alex said it would be point based at one point), and just go and delete storygames of whom they didn't like the author.

I'm all for it, but instead of deleting it it should be unpublished and unable to be re-published for two weeks or something.

games can not be deleted by mods. only alex.

I was talking about what could happen if this feature was accepted. I'm just saying if we accept this we should make some modifications to it.

thats fine.  i just wanted to state for everyone the limitations already in place, but your concerns were definately noted.

Well, I agree with October, but I think we should hold a discussion on which storygames/quizzes to be unpublished and that means gathering up mods or members who have excellent opinions to decide, maybe like a vote. Plus, the author must, at least, add more to his/her stories/quizzes.

MODERATION SHOULD NOT BE DOLED OUT BASED ON POINTS. TROPHIES FINE.

No, moderation is too important.  Look at rommel, he's skyrocketing but maybe Alex doesn't want him as a moderator (just an example)... Then he shouldnt be one.

Point-based moderatorhood is a separate issue.

I think that if moderators are given the power to delete games, then any one single mod shouldn't be able to delete a game by himself (all the mods are guys, right?)

If one moderator can decide to delete a game by himself, the author might complain that that particular mod had something against him/her- or, heaven forbid, a moderator might decide to delete everything that wasn't what he considered a good game-- even if the author put effort into it and deserved to at least have it published.

In order for a game to be deleted, it should take a certain number/percent of moderators selecting it for deletion.

I agree. If the mods wanted a game deleted, it should be brought up by Alex, Chocobot or March and polled by every moderator. This site wasn't built for getting internet power. It was built for freedom to express your ideas to the world.

True. And it is impossible to publish 75 pieces of crap in 2 hours. Also, I would just like to point out that none of my games, however crappy, is rated below 3. thank you.

Mod deletion

You're right.

I wasn't suggesting this based from some elitist, power-mongering perspective. I'm just saying that if tons of crap gets published for points and defeats the point of the site - making creative games. I'm all for freedom of expression, if that expression at least had some effort behind it. And while it's true that it is impossible to publish 75 pieces of crap in 2 hours, it's easy to publish anything that has been created an hour and a half, I believe, after it's created. That means that I can go write 75 stories with two pages each and four links. I then wait about two hours and click, Publish 75 times. I was exaggerating anyway, but you see my point. And I never singled you out Rommel.

I'm NOT a moderator, everyone, I just have a trophy. Moderation isn't about points, it's about the admins deciding to make you a mod - points have to do with trophies.

It says you are a moderator in the About Us page, madglee. Or an administrator, as they tend to call them.

Wrongo October; admins are Alex, Choco and March. the rest of the mods are just mods.

On the  "About Us" page, it does list madglee under "Administrators" (See below)

Administrators

These members play a valuable role in helping to keep the site clean and enjoyable for everyone. If you ever notice any inappropriate posts, comments, or stories, don't hesitate to contact one of them.

*sigh*...I was trying to keep this somewhat quiet but I see that I was foiled, I tell you! No one ever reached 1000 points, apparently, except for me and the ones you know as mods. Originally, the site was coded so that when you reach 1000 and are allowed your trophy, you automatically become a moderator. I.e., when you get your trophy, you get moderation powers. No one intended me to become a mod, only a user with a trophy, and so I have never utilized said powers in any way out of respect for that fact. Furthermore, that is why I maintain I am not a mod. :)

Read closer Rommel. On the About Us page it says administrators. I would rather call the creators administrators and the administrators moderators instead as well, but obviously it isn't that way.

Mod deletion

Agreed with you, October. I am used to moderator and administrator.

Uhhh...that is NOT true. You only get points for your first three storygames. For publishing, there is an unlimited amount of points. Therefore, rejecting this wishing well wish on that basis is invalid.
