What do you think of my story?

So I was thinking about writing a story about a fortune cookie that predicts that a kids life is in danger. This is my idea for the first page.

It was a typical day in Bairdstown, a fictional diverse city in northern California. For 13-year-old Kyle Borovsky, this is the day that will change his life. His family is just returning home from Golden Lotus. As they are eating they fortune cookies, Kyle notices that his fortune is rather strange:

"Your life is in danger. Say nothing to anyone. You must leave the city immediately and never return. Repeat: Say nothing."

"Is this some kind of joke?" Kyle said to himself as he proceeds to throw his fortune in the garbage.

So what do you guys think? What do I need to work on, and would this be a good story? What should happen next? Also, this story might not end up being in third person, and I really do need a good name for a Chinese restaurant unless I can think of one before then.

P.S: What genre would this go under?

If you're wondering why you haven't gotten a response yet, it's just bad timing because your thread got buried by everyone's contest threads.

I think it's a good start, but just that, a good start and nothing else. Do you have any ideas for what happens next or how it ends, or are you just asking for ideas because you want potential alternate paths? I think the ideas need to come mostly from yourself if you're serious about completing this.

If you need a name for a Chinese restaurant just Google some existing names, then go from there. If you need to you can just mix and match parts from real names.

The genre would depend on what you decided to focus on and how the storyline goes. If you add lots of supernatural or futuristic elements, it could be Fantasy or Sci-Fi, respectively. If there's lots of suspense, gore and death it might be Horror. You could make it Mystery/Puzzle if it's about trying to figure out how to stay alive or finding out what's going on. Modern might even be ok if it doesn't fit into any of the above. You could always make that decision when you've worked on it a bit more, or even ask people after you've made a substantial amount and you show them. Just go with the genre that feels right and remember that there's no rush; after all, you don't need to choose one until just before you publish the storygame.
