For the March Contest what if I decided what it was? Here is one type of adventure almost never explored before. In this contest the only games aloud will be BASIC. The topic is none the less none-the-less Conversations. If Alex Papadomulis agrees this contest could be the march contest. Some special features for each game would be:
How will you be judged?
I will judge the games out of 50 points. Each subject is 10pts. each so bombing one will hurt you.
Note that this is not, I repeat, not official in any way or form. It is mearly an idea. If you don't get the idea I'll tell you on a later date.
Rejudging notice:
1. Adventure will be half of your points.
2. Grammer is 5 points.
3. Spelling is 5 points (and possibly might get you disqualified)
4. Features Used - 10 pts. still. Use as many possible ideas to make the game conversation friendly.
5. Following rules are worth 5pts and could get you disqualifed.
Out of 65:
his except that length is 5 points and the only way to lose those is to get under a 4 in your game.
That would be unfair to those who can't come on all the time and those that don't know touch typing like you.
I say 5 if its over 3.
Well, basically it was saying:
Length of 3 gets 1 points while a length of 8 would get 10. I think that would be more biased against slow typers and those who can't come on everyday (exactly the opposite of JJJ) because they would get 7 or so points less.
Making it 5 points based on if the game is above a 3 or not would work though or possibly how long does it take to reach a good ending would do fine for the points.
First of all, i just cannot resist making a comment about part of your post Havacoman:
"2: Grammer - Dont be link this this is not how to do things this itself will lose you major points" --Havacoman
Come on man! How are you going to judge good grammer when this is the "sentence" that you post explaining that we must have good grammer? I didnt even understand what you said except the last part. "this itself will lose you major points" Not trying to be mean or anything. The irony of it was just too much for me.
Secondly: I dont really understand your contest guidelines. None-the-less conversation story with at least 3 links per page that connect with other conversations? Also, conversations that repeat and loop around to the beginning? Were those supposed to be things NOT to do for the story? It is really quite confusing.
Also i dont really think a contest should have a "point" system. Many things that make a great adventure story cannot me measured with some system of points. It is more abstract than that. A good adventure story can be good for many many different reasons.
ummm, guys how about we just leave the contest making up to the guys who run the place... you know, alex, march, choco. ring a bell with anyone? lets not forget our jobs here people. they run the site, we make games and try to weed out bad posts and comments (atleast the mods do.). just make games people.
nate
if we dont worry about making games then we wouldnt need a FWW lol. and we have all done alot to help alex. there a a whole list of names that have contributed to the site. ive never had probs with havy either. he loves MAG, hes cool with me. lol
Don't forget I put the word Possible in the Subject. It looks like not many people like the idea though.
The grammer thing was supposed to be like that on purpose. I never ever write like that.
Sorry if you couldn't understand me in the second point Axe.
I contruibute to the site by giving ideas to make it better for game makers. Remember that more options in games equal more opurtunites to make an epic.
i would agree to a contest with the following rules.
it must be a basic game, no scores or objects. Aside from your text the only other thing that would be allowed would be pictures.
The best game would then go to the best writer, length not being an issue.
thoughts?
march
Holy catfish batman, i think you got something there. a contest that judges writing ability. wow, thats a great idea. thats why you are needed march.
Hey wait. Your March and the contest we are talking about is in March!
I hope you are more active during March.
March's Madness contest will be announced in the beginning of march. those of you posting here have a heads up. There will be more requirements given when we make the announce, but the game will have to be as simple as possible - only feature usable will be pics, but can be made on advanced or basic editors.
What about pics?
This contest seems interesting
Also, when does it have to be started?
each game entered in a specific contest would have to be started AFTER the first of that month that its to be entered in. however, as of right now there is no March contest rules yet. so we will have to wait.
