Behold the might Axebane, slayer of a thousand Orcs, and master of the double-bladed Battle Axe! Hehe, well my real name is Daniel, and I have been a gamebook fan for several years. The first gamebooks that i started to collect were from the Lone Wolf series by Joe Dever. I've played around with writing my own gamebooks before, and when i discovered this website i just had to try my hand at a MyAdventureGame gamebook of my own! I look forward to meeting you all in the forums and reading your gamebooks!

Talks Of A Possible March Contest? on 2/6/2006 10:37:49 AM

First of all, i just cannot resist making a comment about part of your post Havacoman:

"2: Grammer - Dont be link this this is not how to do things this itself will lose you major points" --Havacoman

Come on man! How are you going to judge good grammer when this is the "sentence" that you post explaining that we must have good grammer? I didnt even understand what you said except the last part. "this itself will lose you major points" Not trying to be mean or anything. The irony of it was just too much for me.

Secondly: I dont really understand your contest guidelines. None-the-less conversation story with at least 3 links per page that connect with other conversations? Also, conversations that repeat and loop around to the beginning? Were those supposed to be things NOT to do for the story? It is really quite confusing.

Also i dont really think a contest should have a "point" system. Many things that make a great adventure story cannot me measured with some system of points. It is more abstract than that. A good adventure story can be good for many many different reasons.

School-Game Contest Ideas on 2/3/2006 1:28:13 AM

True, you did say they were all going to be "very, very good" but you understand my point right? The more time you spend polishing, playtesting and tweaking a game the better it can be. Therefore if you try writing a bunch of games you just wont have time to give them all the most amount of polish, right?

Then again i might be working with the assumtion that you have limited free-time to work on gamebooks. I work 12 hour days so i dont have a lot of time in the evenings for writing gamebooks, so it probably just makes more sense in my situation to focus on one or two games instead of writing a bunch like you.

I dunno man, it seems like it would be better to write one great polished game than try to finish 10-12 low-quality games in one month just to have more contest entries!

In fact i didnt even realize that was allowed. If thats the case, then maybe i should see if i can find the time to do both of my game ideas for this contest.

Also i want to make it clear that i am not trying to be an overconfident prick in my posts. I just think you guys will have a lot of fun with the games i create and im looking forward to sharing them with everyone on the site. The biggest fear i have is that i might lose momentum and never finish my "main" game. (Axebane: Warrior of Legend) At least with this contest i have a strict deadline that will help me to not procrastinate and will encourage me to acctually finish my game!

90% done and its only February 2nd?

And i agree that you sound a little overconfident in your statement "expecting to win"

You tempt me with such comments! I shall have to flex my true storymaking muscles and show you a good fight JJJ! Just remember that if you dont win, try not to be upset about it. I know you are a little competitive, but just remember that you have allready written some really great games so win-or-lose you are still a good gamemaker.

How are you guys coming along on your School-Based game for the February contest?

I've two good ideas so far, but i just cant decide which one to do. One is kind of cliché but would be exciting. The other idea i have is really unique and kidn of "light-hearted" but might not be as exciting.

I would tell you guys my ideas but of course they are classified Top Secret due to the contest.

GOT PICTURES! on 2/3/2006 12:58:27 AM

Nah, i just read a lot of the old forum posts when i found this site, and when i found one of Redeye's posts i nearly crapped my pants it was so funny. Maybe its mean to laugh at someone who cant type worth a damn, but i just couldnt help it.

After that i checked his profile and read through all his posts and had a ton of laughs. The best one was his request for a "undetectible password" feature in the Feature Wishing Well. The one where Alexp responded with:

This idea was rejected on Xdate. Reason: "I have no idea what you just said"

That was Fing hilarous!!

Agaiek doesnt ring a bell. I believe i couldnt find a way out of one of the first big city you go to. I found the old man and became a knight and all that, but i just remember going in circles trying to find the way to get out of the city before giving up.

Yeah i was just fooling with you guys because im bored.

And my grammer is not college level either unfortunately. (I just started a sentence with the word And!!!)

I've played your Mattias game a couple times and it was pretty good. I think i only got about 20% of the way through so far so I'm gunna have to try it again sometime to see if i can acctually beat it. The thing that made it a little tedious was having to go back and forth through a lot of areas to get the items to continue the story, but I respect you for making such an epic game!
