New writer, newbie questions, the whole nine yards

'ello.

Long-time reader, first-time contributor checking in.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm wondering if there's a way, within a page, where a portion of the text only displays if a certain variable is at a particular figure. Trying to, for instance, not repeat a backstory upon my character seeing something if he already went over his backstory in an earlier scene.

Thanks!

At my rate, this will take me at least a month. I'm having fun with it while I have the spare time, and hopefully some of y'all will enjoy the final product. Or end up being repulsed by it, who knows...
