That's awesome news (not about his death, I hadn't heard about that) but about an end to the series in sight at last! I started collecting the books in April 1992, and I didn't realise it would take 16 years to get to the end of the story. Originally someone had said it would be a trilogy - or just four books, but it got bigger! I own most of the books, but I stopped reading back at book 9, because every time a book came out, I would sit down and read it all from the beginning again, and after doing that 9 times, I realised I could be doing it another 9 times before the ending arrived, so I stopped reading. Now I look forward to getting the last book, then sitting down and reading them all from beginning to end!
Sword of Truth books are great too! I had the same issue - it just kept going, so I stopped at book 5. If that series ends, I can look forward to buying the rest, then sitting back for a read-a-thon epic!
I probably shouldn't complain about series length though. In Battletech (my favourite sci-fi universe), there's like 63 novels in the first series (divided into trilogies and self-contained stories) and 29 books in the second series (mechwarrior dark age). Luckily they're only about 250 - 300 pages long on average, instead of epic fantasy books with their 700 - 800 pages per book.
