Since I was thinking about great old science fiction stories:

Has anyone else ever read anything by Cordwainer Smith?

And "The Moon Moth" by Jack Vance.  It took me a while to figure out what the title was.

I really love Robert Heinlein!

I think it's funny how Heinlein is simultaneously accused of ultra-conservativism and ultra-liberalism.

(Wow, the spellchecker accepts "Heinlein" as a word.  And, no, it doesn't always accept proper nouns. "Heinlien" for example, is not a word.)

Did you know moon is a harsh mistress sells for like, $600 or more in a first edition?

I didn't really like the ending of cat who walks through walls, I didn't get it.  that was like, twelve years ago (or more) so. . .

What about stranger in a strange land?

And does it really? We have a first edition. (Although the condition isn't mint, its still very good)

"Moon" would need to be the 1966 Putnam edition to be a true first.

"Stranger" would be about $1000, if you had a true first, in jacket, not ex-library.

Anyone else read any of the old classic sci-fi novels by a guy named Simak? I was reading one of his time travel stories the other day, and had to laugh, because the author included HIMSELF as a character briefly encountered when the futuristic guy went back in time :)

Stephen King includes himself as a character in the Dark Tower.

I don't think I've ever actually read Simak.  Of course, I might have thought I hadn't read any Alfred Bester before this week.
