I just played it... I gave up.  I got stuck in the dark basement... After that, I couldn't get out.

Get your power points (or whatever htey're called) up by getting food; go to the leak and go up.  Find the map up there somewhere. Make sure you get Charles Dickens and the other dude in the refrigerator.  When in the basement use them to get light and then get the barrier from teh secret area and then use the map when you get to the monster (thats the cheatign way I used)

Ah, ok.  Hehe, I was just stuck.  I do that a lot.
