Questions about a storygame? Thoughts on Eternal? Any other IF you're playing out there?

no gravity in space...

Conneth isn't accepting PM's so I thought I'd post here. "One problem though, there is no gravity in space!"

I'm not sure what part of the story "Light Space" is being referred to. If it is about falling out of the ship, into the endless white void of Light Space, then gravity is not a problem. Light Space is another realm, another dimension, outside of normal space and time, so things don't work the same way as here in our dimension / universe.

If it is about people walking about aboard space ships, well, the ship has artificial gravity, like so many other space ships in so many other stories.

Thank you though, for playing my game, and for leaving comments.

That's pretty funny.

So, according to Conneth, time travel in space is totally possible, but artificial gravity?  That's just ridiculous!

I know I might not be catching any sarcasm, but here's how stuff works in space, THEORETICALLY:

You can't go faster than the speed o' light. Because of this, time stops for you if you reach the speed of light. That means that you have to go the speed of light in order to time travel. This also means that you are everywhere all the time, because time doesn't happen at the speed of light. Could this explain God being omnipresent? Is He a force, or being that exists at the speed of light?

Artificial gravity is very plausible. It's easy! We can simulate gravity in simple ways. If you have a spacecraft that is just a big tube, spin it on it's central vertical axis. This will make all the cabins branching off of the axis have gravity. As you near the axis, however, gravity will lessen. If the axis is hollow and you enter it, gravity would be very weak, and no gravity would be present in the very center. For complex ships that are flatter than cylindrical, you'll need some creativity for that. Cylindrical ships are the way to go for us primitive humans. Remember, the central axis can be as large as you want, and the cabins can be as flat as you want.

hehe here is where my physics knowledge shines!

There is gravity everywhere! Gravity is what holds our universe together. Every mass/object/person/car/building/planet/star attracts its on force of gravity, but it is a negligible attraction force with small objects, and is why you only experience gravitational forces on a large scale. The gravitational force weakens as you get farther away from the object, and for example, the Sun in our solar system has a gravitational attraction to a star 3902390239 light years away (although negligible, but still gravity nonetheless).

Yay physics! (if you want to look this up on the internet, a key search term would be universal gravitational constant)

wow, and here I thought physics would never be useful in my life!

So, what you're saying is, THERE IS GRAVITY IN SPACE!

(yay tsmpaul, btw.  great story.)

THERE IS!!!

i found physics to be the most useful thing in my life, i could apply it to so many things i did, unlike chem (tho i liked chem) where you dealt with stuff taht you only knew the name of, but didnt even know what it looked like (elements).

In chemistry, I learned that I could read fantasy novels in class, because the supply cabinet blocked the teacher's view of my desk.

Oh, and the periodic table.

wow,  i rememebr when i was in grade 10 science class and our teacher was totally oblivious, this kid would have his laptop open playing first person shooters, clicking mad on his mouse and keyboard and the teacher wouldnt even realize he was playing games. he would play it everyday! and then when the teacher would walk by, he would alt tab to this assingment from the beginning of the year that we completed, adn the teacher didnt even realize he would alt tab to that ALL THE TIME!

wow.  I remember that when i was in 10th grade, we didn't have laptops.

or cell phones, mostly.

is ee that as a good thing, the kid in front of me was so distracting, and i hate it when cellphones ring with peoples custom ringtunes (most of the time its rap or hiphop), i get so annoyed, you'd think they would turn it off for class at least..

a friend has a custom ring tone on his phone, that is his own voice, saying "Ring Ring, Ring Ring"

I just dont like it when the cellphone goes off with "watch me crank that then superman that" while im just about to solve a problem. I dont lose my train of thought, but it just really irks me...

hahaha yeah, I don't doubt it.

A buddy of mine, his name is Kyle (Hunter23 on this site) and his ringtone is the South Park Song "Kyle's mom's a big fat bitch, the biggest bitch in teh world.." etc, etc etc.  The one sung by Cartman.

lol.  what does his mom think about that?

I disagree with all of you. There is no such thing as gravity or the moon.

What?! Then how does the bunny make the rice cakes!!?

no gravity in space...

It's so obviously a bunny, too. I don't get those idiots who claim they can see a face, but can't figure out where the bunny is.

no gravity in space...

Amen. I once spent nigh-on three hours looking for a face, but I kept seeing a li'l bunny makin' some cakes!

They have chocolate rice cakes at the store.

Kinda defeats the purpose.

Chocolate rice cakes? The sounds...brown.
