This is the first page of something I've been writing here. I absolutely resisted including Shogi into the argument, because Aman and Drakilian are very likely the only two people here that would understand the reference, which is probably why it's a lot blander than it should be... Still, what do you guys think, would you read a whole storygame full of me doing things like this?
"Sir, there's absolutely NO evidence to suggest that your client isn't the killer of TSMPaul." Insists prosecution attourney Drakilian.
"But, there's no evidence that suggests he is." insists defense attourney Aman.
"TSMPaul's been missing for years. Your client's the only person in town with a basement!"
"But not a soul has been in the basement for years, the door's been rusted shut. Hell, the door's never been open since the client knew it existed, and that's the only way to get into the basement. And note that TSMPaul showed up emaciated not from my client's basement, but from the desert horizon. That was when he was shot."
"By your client!"
"Not necessarily..."
"He was the only person around who could have done it!"
"It could've been an attack from behind him. He's been in the wilderness for ages. Could've been one of the natives. He might've angered a tribe or two on his way there and back."
"The bullet entered the front of his body, from the town's direction. If a native was here, we would've seen him. Also, this is a western, Aman. The correct term in this genre is 'injun'. If you call them natives you make it sound like aliens in a sci-fi movie."
"The way Sentinel's set up this book, they may as well be aliens in a sci-fi movie."
"Breaking the fourth wall!" The judge Berkazerka inerjects, "For shame, both of you! For shame! Now, could you hurry this up? I have some forum games to master!"
"The suspect had a gun at the time, and the chambers were empty when he was there." Drakilian says.
"But he might never have loaded it to begin with!" Says Aman.
"We really don't have much evidence to go on, here, do we?"
"Yeah, we need more time to properly analyze all the suspects involved. I can tell you firsthand that-"
"GUILTY!" BerkaZerka bangs his gavel, and slides belly-first down a slab of ice he had brought in from Romania.
"But, your honor, it-" Says Aman,
"Nope, guilty." says the Penguin. "I'm a helluva lot more interested in what happens between Udo and Miya, and I'm sure everybody in the whole damn Territory of CYS is. So, if you would please, step aside."
"That argument was so unsatisying!" Drakilian says, "At least tell me the sentence!"
"Eh, Aman, come up with a sentence, he's your client, after all."
"That's not how a courtroom works!"
"Well..." Says Aman, stroking his mustache, "Being that I don't actually know who the killer is, and if my client IS the killer I'd like him brought to justice, I'd say 30 days of freedom, but he'll be working with a posse consisting of me, Drakillian, and Ber-"
"No, Aman, I'm busy with Mythic fucking Nippon, and so are you!"
"Alright fine, if he doesn't find the real killer in 30 days, you can hang him."
Oh, by the way, you're the client, you're getting hanged. Your name is Donnovan. They think you're the one who murdered TSMPaul. You weren't, but you were there when it happened.... You remember the scene clearly.
