So... first person story games. Yay or Nay?

Yeah.  Writing skill is way more important than POV. You can have good storygames in first, second, or third person.

So it's alright if I want to write one in first person as long as I get grammar, spelling and syntax right?

Yes.

They are sometimes harder, because you may have difficulty setting the scene. For example, if you are in third person, you can "see" the entire scene and describe anything you want to the reader. If you are in first person, you can only describe what that one person sees, and absolutely nothing else.
