Interviews from the Writer of Soltice

From the CYS Times, we bring you many of the trends and updates for both the entertainment and gossip of CYS. For the next few issues, we're going to be interviewing WouldntItBeNice in regards to the writer's current project: Solstice.

"Hello WouldntItBeNice, thank you for taking the time to do this."
"No problem."
"For this interview, we'll be focusing on the setting."
"Okay, shoot."

Q: First, why choose a school? I know it's a school based contest, but why such a... unpopular area.
A: Well, I actually wanted to do something in the category for a while, so I jumped at the chance when I saw it.

Q: Okay, what's the school like?
A: That's a loaded question. First, it's called Hawthorn School. It's not a real place. That gives me a few liberties. The school is a private middle-school of all things. Lots of kids from rich parents go there. The place rather sucks. It is in the middle of nowhere. Um, it's in a forest to be exact. There's no internet, no cell phones, and hardly any movies allowed there. Plus, it's year round. Finally, it used to be an insane asylum.

Q: Why would rich parents send their children off to that place?
A: I don't know for sure. It doesn't matter for the plot. I suppose it's because of the good schooling that happens there. I took much of my inspiration of this place from early century colleges like Oxford and Cambridge. You'll see that reflected a bit in the dialog.

Q: What's the most important part of the school?
A: That's easy. It's the graveyard.

Q: How horrible is that school? There's enough dead kids to make a cemetery?
A: No, no... the school grounds used to be a small town and later an asylum. There's been plenty of time for death, though students on the modern era aren't dying. Instead, I just love graveyards. It gives a Gothic vibe to the setting. Also, I don't want to spoil anything, but there will be a significant influence on the plot that comes from being in the graveyard.

Q: Okay, one last question. Then, we can be done for now. What should we call you? I mean... WouldntItBeNice seems sort of long. Mr. W; Ms. W; or Wibn?
A: Nice try. I'm not answering that one. Be sure to play my storygame when it comes out hopefully at the end of this month. It might be later. I'm not sure since the length might push its date far beyond that. I have this thing envisioned as being super long. I just hope to make the deadline. Oh, thanks to you at the CYS Times and for iavatus for being my beta.
