Well, a storygame usually has many divergent paths and choices that have to be accounted for? Instead of like following a linear path I suppose...  :p

I personally seem to be better at the linear non-linear stories (multiple choices, but one ending.).

What can I say? I can be quite the ham, and certainly half-baked.

I learn every month. linear non-linear...I wish I could make an entire story that was an oxymoron.

A ham is a joker. Half-baked is just another way of saying crazy.

Not necessarily. A ham is somebody who's loud, or verbose, or boisterous, or somehow calls a lot of attention to themselves when speaking or performing. William Shatner is a ham, and so is Gilbert Godfrey. The kind of actors that usually play themselves and have big personalities and charisma are good hams. The annoying class clown or the gossip on the witness stand are bad ones. Half-baked can relate to craziness, but usually in that context it's about weirdness resulting from not having been thought through very well. That's what half-baked means, foolish, not fully thought-through, lacking a sound basis, that kinda thing... Much like your understanding of these two terms. OHOHO!

Maybe I'm having to deal with the whole "Ooh Shiny!" thing when I'm in the middle of writing and get a new idea.

You should write down a strict plot with several paths BEFORE you actually start writing. It help you stick to the actual plan and prevents you from creating a whole new path and messing up your game.

Because it is a completely different experience. Writing a story is a relatively simple task. Everyone is very familiar with how a story works. There is a beginning, middle, and an end. There is (hopefully) some character development. In the end, though, it is pretty straightforward.

Writing a story with choices is a completely different animal. IMO, it is really nothing at all like writing a story. Personally, I have tried half a dozen different ways of writing these stories, and they all create completely different results. You can write entire stories and break them up into other stories. You can write parts of stories and find ways to connect them together. You can write lots of options that attempt to be one story, but really are not. You can write one story that has non-significant choices that really don't affect the story. This really is a completely different way to write and results in a completely different end product.
