An allegory.

Author's note: the title of this story is actually The Fire, but someone else already created a storygame with that title, so I couldn't give it the title that I wanted. My second choice for the title was The Light, but another person already took that title as well, so, if you don't mind, just pretend that the title of this story is The Fire.

I put all of my stories on Infinite-story.com and use it as a backup site for my CYOA stories. The forums have long gone on to the big server in the sky, but it puts a few extra eyeballs on the stories, and I haven't seen any indications that severenz is taking the site down anytime soon.

Two errors that I noticed are that you don't need closing double quotation marks at the end of paragraph quotations when the next paragraph is just more dialogue by the same speaker (though more and more people are making that mistake nowadays, so who knows) and "He played an active part in the politics of the Magician's hall" the h in hall should be capitalized like it was earlier, being a proper noun.

I believe the ritual drinking was a reference to a practice run for ritual mass suicide, a la the drinking of the Kool-Aid from the Jonestown Massacre, where a cult of about 900 people committed suicide by drinking poisoned Kool-Aid under the order of their cult leader, if you're not familiar with that historical event. I don't believe Petros was referring to alcohol when he said drinking.

"On the day of judgement" would be referring to the day they've all met God after death to submit to his judgment after committing mass suicide, and "the great transformation" would be referring to their going from their current lowly state to some sort of divine state closer to God aka their death.
