Player Comments on School Life in America

While I realize this story has a very narrow and defined purpose, I think it could have used a little more detail and description. Starting out: what age students are we dealing with here? Obviously, this would be radically different in America if the kids were in elementary school as opposed to high school. I guess with such a narrow audience it doesn’t matter, but for general readers on the site, it would be more useful.

I find it interesting your view of American families, people, and school based on this story. For example, the fight with your sister. Not everyone fights with their sisters over breakfast. And also the car – apparently this is high school students. But I would say that any student, just about anywhere in America, who has a car in high school is going to drive that car to school. There’s just no way anyone will ride a bus when they have a car. In fact, that goes on beyond school, too, but still.

The scenes in the school were kind of funny. I liked the teacher yelling at me when I tried to skip math class. The lunch options and the student groups were kind of hilarious, too. But dodge ball? Don’t you know how dangerous that is today? I think a teacher would go to jail today if they tried to get students to play dodge ball – it’s that serious of an issue in America. After all, someone could get their feeling hurt!

I did like the elective at the end of the day. And the after school activities were kind of fun, too. So I’m not sure how realistic this was supposed to be, but at least it was complete and well written. The choices didn’t really seem to have an effect on the story, but I guess the point was just to show that people have choices. Overall not too bad, but not great, either.

One word. BORING

Okay. So, it was fine to serve it's purpose...in a way.It was very simple and was done within a couple of minutes. I think more detail could of been added and more events that actually happen in a school day, not just your lessons and journey to school. The grammar was fine but there was not much writing to actually perfect. Also, I suggest when making a game keep the font the normal size as this large font was kind of off putting.

It's okay, considering the audience, but I agree that it uses cliches. Whoever wrote this, have you actually been to a school in America? If you have, then exactly how long ago was it?

This is not good for teaching kids about American schools. This is literally just a big ball of stereotypes

ok. This is actually somewhat accurate. Though in my opinion, Band is not boring.

There is actually no real story in it. It is filled with more choices than an actual story.
But all in all, i think it was alright.

Had the potential to be amazing, but it kinda just gave up halfway and said "Oh, screw it." I liked it though, so don't feel too bad. 4/8

I quite liked that because it showed some distinctively American things and the language was simple enough for students to understand. A few more American things I would suggest is the pledging allegiance to the flag, uniquely American sports like baseball and American football and also possibly bringing in the things they do after school like going to the mall, Starbucks etc :)

I realize it is a teaching tool, and if you are trying to explain the bare bones way how high school is, you have succeeded. Needs more if you wish to accurately represent the setting.

This game was a poor story. You almost always end up in the same path as you would've gotten too if you had chosen any other choices.

I'd have to say it's good as a teaching tool but perhaps you could make it more descriptive?
That would help the students be more connected to the story itself.

Ironically enough, I'd actually rather do homework than play this game. It's not bad though, really, just boring and simplistic.

Okay, but we have enough 'day' stories to use.

I have taught ESL too. Student life in Asia is very different from America and most of them say they only learn American culture from the movies. I'm sure your students will enjoy this story!

Not very descriptive, and certainly can be improved upon. Grammar was good though.
