Ever since you've been born, one single thing has remained with you through your entire life. It's stretched thick and thin, and sometimes hides under you to escape the persecuting light. It never flees, however, keeping vigilant at your side until death, and even after that. It will keep watch over your corpse, until it too, crumbles in an unrecognizable mass in tune with your body.

It's your shadow. Wave at your shadow, it will wave back. Flip the bird at your shadow, it will flip it right back. Sometimes the most simple things are a metaphor for life itself.

You wake up in a sterile laboratory, hooked up to machines and wires that entrap your entire body. Your name is Brandon Marke, at least that's what the overhead neon light both shows and tells you.

"Welcome to the Planes." it says rather unenthusiastically. Not that machines should be enthusiastic, but you feel like this one should. Like it's been through the same routine too many times.

The computer voice commands you to do simple things at first, count to ten, lift your fingers one at a time. The questions begin to become more excruciating with time, and you fear for what would happen if you got too many incorrect.

Just a small fight to test the program and gauge my writing ability.

It's basically a pair of knights fighting.

Anyone read this?  I thought I was great, but the sequel, Golden Son, is way better than the first.

It's actually a bit like that.

But then again, that's a Goose Bumps story, and those tend to not be so serious.

It's not a utopian scenario, like the Giver.  It's more of a cult that's manifested into a country, and is brainwashing their youth to continue the cult.  Extreme cult actions included.

What do you guys think of a story about a kid stuck in a world made of grey, where a dictatorship is run and pumps propoganda into the minds of children, and you have to excape?

It takes place in a school, run by a country named The Fourth Rome, where they've unlocked the secret spoken language of Latin.  Your character has just become self-aware, due to a prolonged absence of a mysterious black liquid that's served in the cafeteria and vending machines.  He's starting to lose his ability to comprehend the Latin, as well as his grey skin, and is at risk of exposing himself more and more every second.
