Terra Proxima, an Epic Choose Your Own Adventure Serial by Rommel

Episode I: First Strike

You are training as an elite soldier at the military academy Tel-Takir. You go by the callsign Sentinel. Soldiers are no longer so much cannon fodder, they are lethal weapons, especially these ones, part of the global peacekeeping force: The United Guns. You have almost graduated from the academy, and are looking forward to tomorrow, when you will be assigned a posting. You have a bad feeling about graduation night though, and you have been trained to trust your instincts. Something is up...

This is the second version of First Strike.

Very impressive :)

This was a storygame that I found myself immensely enjoying as I read. I liked that it never felt like there was a sense of urgency in the narrative, everything for the most part was both cohesive and written well, giving this story a rather nice flow to things.

The action was superb, being innovative and a bit refreshing with the system that was in place. At least in my opinion because I genuinely find things with sci-fi elements to be cool when done well, and this story does pull off many things well. The universe feels original and it's obvious that plenty of thought was put into making it so.

A good use of pictures, strategy, and writing certainly made this a rather immersive and fun experience.

My only gripe with this is that it ended when things really were picking it up :( But that fact certainly makes me excited to play a continuation of this storygame, as this was definitely enjoyable to read.

Overall, I think that this was a solid piece of writing.

Pros:
Writing
military scenarios
details
game mechanics- this is truly a game

Cons:
couldn't you have scripted or itemized the story at least somewhat so I wouldn't have to keep track of every little variable myself?
combat maps are confusing
not long/epic enough

...Apparently I hadn't left a review before...
Well, it's a good excuse to replay this gem! The combat is really superb, and makes the combat more than just "Do this or die." A cool conflict, although there isn't a whole lot of backstory which would have been nice, and some great combat and writing. Excellent game, Rommy!

I'd like to play more story games like this. Well thought out, well written, and it has a realistic feel. Plus the science fiction aspect is interesting.

Fun, innovative, and always an interesting read! You have a lot of writing skill and practice. Enough to make me want to play this game (and its sequel) a second time through just to see what else I can do.

The scenario was well-thougt out. It bring about an atmosphere of tactical, practical choices. I will use it as a source of subquests for my tabletop gamemastering session :)
