So if I'd decided I don't really want my first page to be my first page after all, is there a way to shunt the player off to another one instead? Or do you go there automatically before any scripts have a chance to do their thing?

Yeah, sometimes when you start learning tough things like scripting, you have a habit of over complicating things and assuming it all has to be done a certain way.
