How do you make the first page of a story have a random variable? One of the things I do when I have time (Cleansed was gonna have a secret path but I sadly had to scrap it) is make some paths just up to chance, and one such thing is on the first page.

Without JS, you can't roll upon game open - only on the first player action. So you'll have to do a dice on a link on the first page. Games that do what you want often start with a credits sort of page or rules explanation with a "begin game" button to do all the rolls before the first "real" page.
