Yes, you wrote the code, and it saves the code.  If it changed the code, it wouldn't be very good.

You can change them.  You don't need to declare them at all anyways, so if I were you, I'd just write them on a piece of paper, a RTF or a TXT file.

october, you are talking about normal variable within the editor, to just display them on a page, you can type the %%BLACKMAGIC%% and it will give the value of BLACKMAGIC, what havac's talking about is scripting, anyways:

pretend:

%%FIRSTVAR%% = 1
%%SECONDVAR%% = 2
%%THIRDVAR%% = 3

then if you write thhis on the descirption:

%%FIRSTVAR%%
%%SECONDVAR%%
%%THIRDVAR%%

it will show up:

1
2
3

if you were to write it:

%%SECONDVAR%%
%%FIRSTVAR%%
%%THIRDVAR%%

it would show up as:

2
1
3
