I propose we make a feature where player saves will not be deleted if the author happens to make a edit on their story.
I think it's perfect the way it is. Authors should be discouraged from unpublishing published storygames.
You mean it's the way it is because it discourages authors from republishing their works? Well, what if they want to add a part 2 to their story, or something, and they want the players to keep their old items, experience points, and stats, and achievements?
Published stories are supposed to be completed works. If you're adding a second part then do it before you publish. If you've published, it should be written, tested and edited.
Then what's the republish feature for?
You mean, why are authors allowed to unpublish games and then publish them again?
For one thing, it's important that authors have the intellectual rights to their writing.
What does that mean?
I agree w/ JJJ, but then there's the fact that it's not technically feasible.
The save state contains things like... items, pages visited, variables, etc. When those change, the save state becomes unusable.
