I would like to ask for the ability to download games.

I realise that this website and the entire community revolves around a lot of features and specifications which were laid out with online gaming in mind (the trophies spring to mind), so, naturally, downloaded versions would be somewhat "truncated" in this regard. Nevertheless, the ability to enjoy a story without being forced to a browser would be most welcome.

I realise too that it might be difficult in terms of format - it would mean an interpreter, probably designed from scratch. But... well, I know nothing about this sort of thing, really, but what if the formats were kept, using java... or html... or whatever... so that I could play the game in a browser, without having to have net access? It wouldn't be unlike having an HTML page and a couple of folders containing everything I need to read that page offline.

I guess this has not been a major concern, but this sort of online gaming is simply not my thing, whereas if I were able to download the games (and if you allow them to be played on a browser, even if when not connected to the net, you have guaranteed cross-compatibility), I would be most interested in playing them and collecting them (I'm a bit of a collector).

Hi PeterPears,

Many years ago - maybe 4 years - I asked to be able to print the stories. Not quite the same thing, but I am guessing similar from a coding point of view. There have only been a few minor changes over the last several years, as the original authors/coders have busy lives. You're of course free to ask, but I don't foresee anything changing on the site.

Oh, btw, my suggestion to print the stories was accepted on 8/5/2006. It used to be that once accepted, the idea was implemented, but as you can see, that's not the case.

Man, I sure wished the founders loved me as much as I love them...

More than a year later responding to this thread, I'd like to make a request for being able to download pages as well. I have quite a few pages in my story and would like to print them out without having to do gobloads of copy/paste.

Keeping track of the pages of variable changes would be nice too, though I can understand that that would be difficult. Anything would be better than nothing at the moment.

Having to be online has some benefits because I can work on any computer that's connected. Unfortunately, the requirement can hold up work as well.
