In the editor, when I wrote the description, there were some apostrophes here and there. I put it up on sneak preview to see how the description looked in my profile and saw the the apostrophes turned into a bunch of capitalized letters with a ; and a # and all those other stuff. What happened? But when I view it in the editor the apostrophes are fine.

HTML entities. Certain characters, like apostrophes, are encoded as "entities" so they don't run the risk of interfering with other HTML code. ' is the entity for an apostrophe. There's not much you can do about it, but it will only occur on your profile.
