Think there might be a slight problem here with the amount of text you're copy and pasting. Even if credit is given, it seems a little iffy. I'm not sure what the ruling on that would be, but, you should probably be writing your own stuff. @Endmaster?

Even then, the story should definitely be in fanfic, not fantasy. The setting isn't yours.

I have a license allowing me to copy and use the text

Hmm, well I'm not the legal type...so @Endmaster

Is it okay?

Also, this will still be fanfic, not fantasy. I think.

Testers

The setting, monsters, and such are fine. I mean most people who are writing fantasy stuff are probably taking bits and pieces from D&D anyway (Which is in turn taking bits and pieces from Tolkien, folklore, myths, etc) nobody has a claim on orcs, dark elves, and such (Even if Games Workshop would love to)

My issue is with the story concept since he’s saying he’s directly lifting it from something already written and just making minor changes. I mean yeah I guess that’s basically what fanfic is anyway, but this just seems like it’s crossing the line unless I’m missing something.

Guess it’s time to call in the rest of the horsemen on this.

@BerkaZerka
@Killa_Robot
@JJJ-thebanisher

Assuming it's okay, yeah it definitely would be fan fiction.

He can have all the licenses he wants. No reason to have a carbon copy of another person's work on the site. Bad precedent.

Testers

I’m already against the story, but might as well see what the rest think on this in case this comes up again.

Minnie had a point as well, that even if the story was site acceptable, it’s most likely going to get 1s and 2s anyway.

Testers

I don't believe he means copying the entire thing. I am not sure as I haven't visited any of the other links.

Either way, I don't exactly like the idea of this story either, since copying another person's ideas and writings...whether you are allowed to or not...really bothers me.

Testers

Late to the party, but no dice. One cannot copy/paste from source material without express permission from the copyright holder. One can use the same concepts, plot, and character types, but the writing has to be your own.

Anyway, looks like it doesn't matter at this point.

Testers

I'm honestly not sure this story would get good ratings even if it's allowed and finished as a project. I mean, if you copy and paste the entire plot then people are going to notice. Also, if it's the same thing, I think people would prefer the official one, rather then a total copy.

Testers

7 years ago

Even if this is both legally allowed and allowed on the site, what exactly is the point? You're not modifying the story to any relevant extent and it seems like you'll be putting a lot of work into making this. I don't really understand why, to be honest.

Testers

7 years ago

Yeah, I wouldn't bother working on this. You need to work on your own plot and not copy a pre-existing one. You did a lot of copy/pasting in general. Don't publish the story.

Well, since this has basically been nixed and voided.

I recommend making the sequel to pointy tap instead, but with a plot and characters. Give the reader a reason to be invested in the endless clicking and tapping this time.

It seems like Seto's already in the process of making it, so you should really check up on that.

Testers

Well, I'm still planning stuff :) It's going to look a bit strange at first since I tend to write as I go, and go back over my work later to see what I should change or edit.

I also have that lovely little ballad to write. And I am not exactly a good poem writer XD

"This game is a copy of the D&D: Rage of Demons series"

No. Bad Kain. Write your own story, don't just copy something else. If you published it we'll sacrifice you to appease the masses.

Testers

Haha, I strongly approve of this fiery version of Killa.

Seriously though, I still think a D&D story would be cool, provided you wrote your own plot, kain. I don't know why you'd just want to copy/paste a story anyway. That sound unbelievably boring.
