do picture books exist?

Hi, me again! I like making cyoa's and I usually made them on A03! I just used Html and hoped for the best that I didn't screw the order of the pathways but since I came here I noticed that it's a way more organized system :)

While I was exploring, I noticed that the reviews are sort of not what I'm used to. LOL, I grew up with the fan fiction etiquette "Don't like, Don't read." and so seeing the reviews surprised me but I suppose that's something to expect on a site publishing original books but before I get distracted, I was wondering if everyone is chill with different writing styles?

I'm not a good writer, and I just do it for fun so I never saw it as a priority to learn how to write properly because the type of stuff I wrote were scripts to animations & short films. My style is more telling rather than showing, unfortunately, but lately I started creating artworks to balance it out in hopes what I draw would convey the story more but since I would be mostly drawing that led me to another question: picture book styles of cyoa? is this a common concept? Because i would rather lessen any blow of harsh reviews in any way I can LOL

Have a nice day! Sorry for any spelling mistakes, auto corrector is not working for me right now.

Negative feedback is a good way for a writer to grow. If you don't care about becoming better at writing, you should probably just ignore all the negative reviews. Me personally, I just keep my emotions aside and try to implement any advice I receive from such comments as well as I can.

As for different writing styles, variety is the spice of life! If everyone wrote the exact same way, this site would be pretty boring. I think a picture based CYOA would be a great read (look? I don't know). Just be sure to test it well and make sure the pictures aren't oversized or too tiny I guess.

There have been attempts at picture-based cyoas here. This one came to mind immediately. There is also This Storygame using embedded videos. I think it would be a unique and interesting addition. Harsh reviews will depend on how good or well executed the idea ends up being, so as long as you don't create some low effort garbage you'd more likely get constructive criticism.

Probably not enough to count as a "picture book" but Little Mages Potion Shop is also graphic heavy. Altair-III: Search and Rescue is definitely not a picture book, but the flight simulator part is one of the best 'game' interfaces I've seen on a work here.

The storygame I can think of that was purely done as a comic was received pretty well, and it was all just done with Sims characters.
But it was taken down after the image hosting site the author used went kaput. Partially illustrated works have been done plenty of times before though, it's not an issue.

Really, as long as there's choices you can carve that shit on clay tablets if you want, nobody is going to complain. You're likely better at writing than your give yourself credit for though.
