Alright everyone, I'm going to host an RPG through OpenRPG Tabletop software. Essentially, I'll send you a download link and you'll download the software and a program called Python (which allows you to run the software) and then you'll open it up and update it and then join a room that I've created.

From there, we'll have a real time text box with full dice rolling capabilities and a tree on the left that has all of your character sheets, maps, etc. I want to convene semi regularly, and if you're not willing to do that then don't sign up but I really like you guys the best and I'd like to have a fun roleplay with y'all. I have a coooooool scenario primed and ready to go!

How to Be a Good Roleplayer
What is roleplaying?
Roleplaying in an OpenRPG sense is not like playing an RPG on your computer or console, such as Baldur's Gate, Final Fantasy, or others. In OpenRPG, you create a character with a unique personality, who is not you. Some people suffer a misconception that to roleplay is to put yourself in someone else's body in another place. That it not true; it is more like acting, only you are making up the character and the script as you go. There's nothing wrong with playing a character who is totally different than you, even of the opposite gender; it's an interesting excercise to try and think like another person.

The following is a brief article on good roleplaying.

What is good roleplaying?
Good roleplaying does not mean that your character is incredibly powerful or "cool"; it means that the storyline which is being built is has convincing, interesting characters. One of the biggest rewards of roleplaying is being able to tell the stories of just what kinds of crazy troubles and adventures your character got in; nobody cares that you beat up a red dragon, but they might think it's pretty funny if you tell them about the time you accidentally sliced through the bartable with your Sword of Sharpness +5. When roleplaying, the choices you make are not necessarily the safest ones, or the most effective ones, but the ones that your character is likely to choose -- more concisely, the choices with the most character. This does not mean killing every storeowner you come across, just because "you're evil" -- such characters are not likely to live long and thus are little fun to roleplay, and they tend to ruin the rest of the game.

What are the pitfalls?
In a roleplaying game, the most pernicious problems are almost always the result of a player or players that do not maintain the separation between what is the game, and what is real life. The term that covers this broad class of roleplaying "sins" is "metagaming." Metagaming most commonly manifests itself in several specific ways, listed here in order of what is generally least harmful to generally most harmful.

Bringing personal feelings into the game. This occurs when a player takes their personal feelings about another player, or in some circumstances feelings about the game itself or issues that that the game brings up, and allows those feelings to dictate the feelings of their character. This is generally the least harmful to the game experience. In many circumstances, players that do not get along will have characters that do not closely work together, which may be the result of this type of metagaming, but has little negative effect on the game. There are other circumstances where this can be more harmful, for instance when players dislike an element of the game or its plotlines and express this through their character in a negative way intended to damage that element.
Bringing out of character knowledge into the game. For any game that involves antagonism between the characters, it is essential that these characters be able to have secrets that they can keep from one another. However, it is not always possible to keep these secrets from the other players, due to a variety of reasons. When players act on information in the game that they have as players, but their character does not have, this crosses the line into metagaming. This usually has the effect of irreversibly damaging any plotline related to the antagonism between the characters involved, and has other serious consequences in terms of the game experience of the players involved, particularly the "victim."

Because of the nature of this particular scenario, players will not begin by creating detailed backstories or even fully customizing the characters. Instead, I need only a parcel of information from each person:

Their Descendancy (The level of seperation between the Aevites and your character.)
Their Race (The genetics of your character.)
Their approximate age
General Appearance

Once we start playing, you can choose your your attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Spirituality, Intelligence and Charisma), and your skills.

DESCENDANCY
In the world, Tenth Bloods are most common and the further you stray from a Tenth Blood, the more rare your bloodline is. Descendancy affects the amount of ZIEN in the veins of your character. Zien allows you to perform magic. However, Zien weakens the body and because it is un-natural, it sometimes creates a conflict with nature, causing wildlife and such to dislike you. This is because, the Aevites are alien to the planets and couldn't survive more than a generation in the hostile environment. However, they were incredibly beautiful and many offspring were spawned, so Zien is around to this day.

Zien is NOT the be-all end-all of magic:

Religious and Healing
Natural and Druidic
Water
Earth
Air

So of the 9 magical schools, Zien is only required for 4. Descendants can perform all 9 though, and non-descendants can only perform the 5 non-Zien schools.

CHOICES
Strong Blood - Mostly Aevite Blood (VERY RARE)
Half blood (RARE)
Quarter Blood (Fairly Common)
Tenth Blood (EXTREMELY COMMON)
Free Blood - No Aevite Blood (RARE except among Spartan's)

The more Aevite blood you have
- The weaker you become
- The more attractive you become
- The more Zien you have.

RACE
All Races are from the OLD ONES, but they have since branched out into 4 distinct races:

Human - Self explanatory for description of appearance. No affected abilities. No advantage or disadvantage to the six attributes. Between five feet and six and a half feet tall with an average weight of 120-220 pounds.

Spartan - Much larger than the average human, between seven and nine feet tall and between three hundred and four hundred pounds with larger muscles and absolutely no Aevite blood. Spartan's are allergic to Aevite blood and a pure Spartan cannot breed with any person with quarter blood or higher or the baby will be stillborn. This race is physically powerful and gets a strong, strong advantage in the Strength and Constituion attributes. Spirituality practically doesn't exist for this class, however.

Noruma - Referred to as half-lings by most Spartan's and Human's. This race is very short and pretty weak. Between Three and Four and a Half feet tall with an average weight of 60-100 pounds. Noruma do not require light to see. They are perfectly suited to living underground or on the surface. Noruma have a disadvantage in Strength and Constitution but they have an advantage in Dexterity.

Laev - Laev's are a little taller than a Noruma (four to five feet tall) and a little heavier (85-135 pounds). They are generally the least social of the four classes and more interested in learning or acquiring things. Laev's are the best scholars, blacksmith's, etc. of the land but make terrible leaders, because they spend most of their lives growing up learning things. They get an advantage in Intelligence and Spirituality but a disadvantage in Strength, Constitution and a severe disadvantage in Charisma. Laev's start out with more skills than the other races.

Or Half-Spartan (At most, Tenth blood), Noruma or Laev. There are other races as well but these are the acceptable starting races.

AGE
I'm hoping that characters will choose ages between 25 to 40, but I'll be lenient.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
I'm looking for height, hair colour, eye colour and skin tone and that's about it. Weight and body build will come after we roll your attributes.

THESE ARE THE SIX ATTRIBUTES THAT WE WILL ASSIGN YOU WHEN WE START ROLE PLAYING.

Strength - The physical prowess of the character, effects anything that requires musculature such as breaking things, using melee weapons and the range and power of bows.

Dexterity - The reflexes and speed of the character, effects who goes first in a battle, reaction time, how difficult it is to hit you and your foot-speed.

Constitution - The amount of pounding you can take before blacking out or dying. Your resistance to poison and demoralization.

Spirituality - The amount of spiritual energy you have, affects the 5 non-Zien magical schools and also affects your resistance to magic of all sorts including Zien.

Intelligence - Your mental capacity, which affects your intuition. Also effects the time it takes to gain any sort of mental skill such as other languages. Effects the time it takes to read books that can gain you information.

Charisma - Affects the attractiveness of your charisma and the first impression you give. Charismatic characters can get discounts at stores, and entice people to follow them.

If you have a high descendancy, you will get a bonus to Charisma, and a loss of Strength and Constitution.

If you choose Spartan, your Spirituality can not exceed 5, but you get a strong advantage in Strength and Constitution.

If you choose Noruma, you lose Strength and Consitution but gain Dexterity.

If you choose Laev, you gain Intelligence and Spirituality but you lose Strength, Constitution and LOTS of Charisma BUT you pick up skills faster and start with more skills.

I've decided to scrap this campaign and start afresh. We're going to be using D&D 3.5. The main reason for doing this is because the campaign that I had in mind required at least 3 or 4 player characters.

I abandoned it because it needed a party of four, and so when one person in a party of two doesn't show up, it was unplayable. This campaign will be more flexible. One character is created, I'll be doing Juranus' tonight, and Anubis, I'm open to do yours too.

Yeah, I got dced a lot but by next week I'll be home with stable connections. Heres the progress on the picture. Its in manga style but I try to make it more DnD. About 40% done.
