Okay, screw it with my Tales, since they're going to take for-freaking-ever to do alone, so I was thinking about this:

Someone makes a storygame, and then they invite co-authors to create their own branches onto the story.

The story is created on a community account, so that no one person takes any more credit than the others.

It sounds a lot like the failed experiment account in the pass, but unlike the last guy who did it, I'll be the one judging on who to give the password to (because I'm somewhat elitist).  What I'm aiming for is a community project that not just a few, but many people will be able to participate in.

If anyone wants to join this project or have any thoughts (whether critical or complements), then feel free to post below.

so will it be freedom to write what i want or will there be rules?

If you want to start your own story, then make a separate storygame.  You also have to have an indicator that a specific part of the storygame was by your credit.  Also, you may not edit another's page (like if I edit yours).  If you do notice that your page seems to have been proofread / spruced up, then it'll most likely be me just polishing your page.

Well, I think the community account thing is a bad idea, as once the password leaks out, the game is gone. Since you came up with this idea, you can take credit of being the 'main author'.

Well, it depends on who I let in.  For example, I'm probably going to never let in some guy who signed up just today, but I'll probably allow a guy like Fireplay or Alvin to join since I trust them.  I did say I was elitist, so finding competent participants isn't so much of a challenge.

Of course you're on.  Although I may have to revise your work a lot, I don't think you'll do anything mischevious.

I had a thought of doing something similar, by getting in co-authors and one of the first choices will be,

Whose Path do you Choose?

and then list the members name as the choice, so you know whose 'version' of the story you're following.

But I was too timid to start it.

Anyhow, what is the initial theme of your story going to be?

Im going to set up a voting session soon.  Vote for category, then scenario.  After that, I'll make the account and give the password to the authors.

Chooseyourstory.com will allow a maximum of five co-authors per story. This fact is not a technical limitation, but rather a way to avoid "community" storygames.

The info section discourages creating community games.

Discourage isn't the same as disallow.

But there must be a reason why they "discourage" it. Maybe they just did not use the word "disallow" because, it's a stronger word than "discourage" and they don't want to leave an impression that people in this site commands what one SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do.

like, "create a community account at your own risk" or "you were warned".

have you been on http://editthis.info/create_your_own_adventure.com lately? The whole site is exactly what you are suggesting. You can see the problems there, none of their stories are finished. People get bored write one or two pages then quit. They do shoddy work that is impossible to follow. Some people do a good job but this is overshadow by the long unfinished story branches nobody finished.

But that's why he wants to have a few dedicated authors. This isn't a story where every member contributes, as of right now, it's probably only 4 or 5. It just makes things easier without co-author, since everyone sees everything.

ok i guess i must have seen this as  a community thing. IF you guys want to do this I encourage you as long as all the writers are dedicated it could turn out well.

But I have to know the person on the forums for a couple of weeks, if not months, if they want in.

That makes a lot of sense.  After all, as people constantly remind me, this is the internet, a place where anonymity creates a lot of awful behavior.

Well, I don't really want to increase my work load, but as a thought, when you do make the team account, pming oneself works really well to pass info. Just mark whose speaking and you have a group chat without any complications.

Since it doesn't seem like anyone has learned scripting (or much of it), here are the genres for the first collaboration project!

Sci-Fi.  Includes steampunk, futuristic stuff, utopian scenarios, futuristic apocalypse, you name it.

~~~

Fantasy.  Middle-Earth stuff.  DnD stuff.  Pretty much anything you can think of that isn't Sci-Fi.

Modern Times.  Anything that is  a realistic scenario.  Slice of life, a hostage situation, or a competition, it's all here.

Romance.  The icky stuff that lovebirds and hearts come from.

"Gumbo".  An original genre which throws in everything in every-which-way possible.  Aliens taken hostage?  Feline anthromorphs living in Industrial Revolution?  Or how about shrimps becoming a massive civilization?  It's all pretty much in "Gumbo"

I vote Sci-fi, because I want to try my hand at something like that.

well I'm not sure if you guys have started yet. If you choose one of the interesting categories like scifi or fantasy maybe even gumbo i would like to help. Unless you have already started.

Modern Times, like you have to get the facts straight [or just be plain realistic] because it is based from real day-to-day events..... This is like the easiest category to create a story on.

I didn't realize we had to post ideas first so i actually wrote an entire branch for my story part
