v20170005 Update

Hi all,

This is just a tiny update to fix a couple of mission critical bugs:

1. Game Ratings, Top Games and Games Ranking should update themselves properly today. We'll know about Game Ratings within an hour, and the other two by tomorrow. This was a super interesting edge case of a bug and a cool learning experience. Hopefully it's fixed.

2. There was a bug surrounding user signups that is now fixed.

Cool! Ratings came back as expected. Rankings and Top Games by tomorrow.

Adjusted ratings are still set at 0 it seems. Not sure if that will get fixed tomorrow as well though.

Yeah, adjusted ratings are tied intimately with rankings / top games. I can't fix one without the other. Sorry, I could have been more specific.

Great. The ratings are back, but they are using decimals now. I actually kinda like it better like this, now I can see a more specific rating for storygames. Can you keep it like this, 3J? XD

Okay. Everything is good. Maybe? Hopefully? I'm hoping things hold out but it's a tough thing to test locally so we'll see.

Nice to see everything rated again. Definitely hope there are no more problems with it.

I must say, the Overall/in Year Rankings on the Stories is really nifty!

You know, using this, we could now include some form of reward (even automated) for those with Stories Rated in the Top 100.

Maybe Overall Top 100 and Top 10 for each Year.

Interesting. How is the overall part calculated?

For example, Homo Perfectus 8 has the highest rating in the site, but overall it's considered 10th, so presumably it's more than just the rating it has.

Something to do with number of plays.

Same formula as the IMDB Top 250. It takes the number of ratings into account. I posted about this more lengthily in the 003 (I think).
