Dust off a seat and discuss a good book here...you do read, right?

Has anyone else read it? Just finished reading it today, and I think I've scared a couple family members with my shout as I finished it. It was a fantastic story, and, like in all Sanderson novels, the twists are (almost) always surprising. (Had to admit, I guessed how they killed steel heart. Note that I'm a fan of whiting out spoilers, so, yeah. :P

gotta say, I've become a rather big fan of Sanderson's novels, after reading Mistborn (a very good read), but this novel jumped out and grabbed a spot on my list of favriote novels. Tells the story of a normal guy who tries to kill a 'god'.

So, if anyone here did read it, what did you guys (and gals, I suppose) think of it?

Is this the title of a series or the book?

The book. Though there is a sequel (that I haven't read yet), I believe.

I'll have to check it out. I have been trying to find a good book series or book recently.

I have enjoyed every Sanderson book I've read so far. (Thank god for Forge, or I wouldn't have ever read Mistborn, and learnt about this author)

I read it after finishing Way of Kings again. It was very entertaining and had a good number of little twists, I'm going to admit I was suprised that the Professor was an Epic but I had suspected Megan from her first outburst. I also enjoyed the way Brandon kept us in the dark about most of the world or it's magic/Epic powers system.

Since I finished both of those books I've been so looking forward to Words of Radiance to come out this year.

Ha ha, Way of Kings was the book I wanted to get, but I couldn't find it in the bookstore, so I got Warbreaker and Steelheart. Need to find that one, it sounded really good. spoilers below

i was actually surprised by both Prof being an Epic, and Megan, though it makes sense, since she had that Combat Reflex power (displayed when she shot Fortuiry).

Yeah, thats been a thing of his (keeping us in the dark about everything) :P. I mean, even in Mistborn he kept all things hidden. XD

I still felt that the most surprising one was Confulx being a 'slave'. Really shocked me when I read that he was tied up and all. Also that Proffesor was an epic. That was freaking crazy. :D

Way of kings is amazing, if you happen to be interested in him and his role in the Cosmere Hoid is actually more than a side/background character in this book. He's not even really hiding. lol

I figured out Megan since I've never read a book with a bi-polar character unless it's related to something other than being bi-polar. I actually admit I didn't notice the CR power until you just now mentioned it.

He doesn't like to give to much info about his stories because that allows him more freedom to expand and detail the world as he things best instead of being forced to work with what he has set before or something like that. Meh. :)

So how much do you know about the Cosmere, Hoid, and Adonalsium/Shards? :D I never even knew about them until I started looking up his other books after reading Mistborn and WoK.

I actually love the fact that he hides all of the facts. It makes it really fun to guess how something works, Still wondering why the comet/satellite thing didn't get hidden by the darkness effect

I actually have no idea what the hell Cosemere, Hoid, adonlaisium/shard are, ha ha xD.

I always figured that the Comet/Satellite was far to bright to block out unless you were inside. I always pictured it to look like a much smaller version of the sun in Mistborn.

^.^

The Cosmere is basically the universe that Brandon Sanderson has the majority of his books in. Hoid is a character who appears in some way in every book related to the Cosmere.

Adonlaisium was basically Harmony but with all the shards before it was shattered. The shards are the powers that make up the magic in Cosmere, for example Ruin and Preservation were both shards held by two people and eventually Sazed.

All of his books that are related to the Cosmere and Adonlaisium are part of a Super-Epic that Sanderson is writing. It's quite interesting. lol                                   Sorry, I'm a bit addicted to learning background/origin stuff on anything I like. :D

Haven't ever heard about it...

Whats it about?

Steelheart

Basically, super heroes are evil, and 'superman' (steel heart is basically superman, from my POV) runs Chicago, allowing these evil superheroes to do as they please. MC wants to try and kill Steelheart

This sounds like Earth 3 in DC.

It's quite good, you should check out the book if you have time. :)

Once I get out of the house and not to work (Meaning time to get to the shops) I'll be starting to read it.

I just got done with it. The ending I'm just don't know what to say, but I want more. That was amazing the ending just made me want the book to be longer.

I know, right? I scared the family when I finished the book, since I shouted. XD (I do that a lot... :P)

Fantastic book, and everything tied togheter nicely, but left room for a sequel. :D

Just finished, and I must say; What an awesome book. Definitely one of my favorites now ^_^

Admittedly, I saw some things coming, Like Megan being Firefight, Though I was admittedly wrong about Steelheart's weakness. Thought it was crossfire from the beginning. Overall, a really fantastic book. Guess I gotta read Mistborn now though :D
