Green mile, IT, Carry, Dream catcher, Rose Red, Stand by me, Firestarter, the shining, the crow... anyway I will stop talking to myself...

He is interesting, he has such an unusual imagination, The book im reading (the dark tower) is inspired by lord of the rings, and it is kidna wired and yet exiting.. I love it... some of his books are very gross, and perverted though. he is a good writer I think

that is very true, However... he did come up with a clown who Kills children. Not to mention a house that grows (yes, it grows, as in gets bigger, more rooms, more story's) not to mention an invisible deamon that rapes a lady... and alliens that grow in your stomach and kill you... come to think of it.. your right they are all great story ideas!

Ha your right! lol... I think My fave of Stephen King's characters.. and one of the most original, is a Schitzophrenic (sorry about my spelling) Black woman, With no Legs, (and no wheel chair) who gets pulled into another dimension... where she is raped by the invisible Deamon (this is just a tiny part of the story, so dont worry that is not the story line of the Book) she just cracks me up... He also had a monorale that does riddles.. can you get this one...
what had a bed but never sleeps, runs but never walks and has a mouth but never eats??

I've finished the Dark Tower series.  I really love how SK weaves the Tower into so many of his other books.

(Lobsters frighten me. . .)

Sweet!, what are the last 2 books like? I'm reading wolves of the calla at the moment. about half way through. I have realy begun to like SK, I used to like his imagination, but the more storys I read, the more i like them.

I don't want to spoil anything for  you but. . .

There's more travelling to other worlds, including a trip back to "our" world.  Characters from other SK books keep showing up.  Also, several characters will die.  King is a great storyteller- he's an excellent writer as well as a good plotsmith.

I had a feeling more would die, and they would be travelling back to 'our' world, I hope Jake doesnt die... again!
What characters from other SK books come up? (only tell me if it wont spoil the plot)

Ah, lets see, you got to the Father Callahan part already, right?  Well, obviously (if you've read Insomnia) Patrick needs to come back into the story.  And SK himself is rather important (some people love this, others call it a cheap gimmick)

Death is a very subjective thing-- what is it Jake says?  "There are other worlds than these"

yep. I think I got ya. cant wait to read the rest of them.

Besides Insomnia, the Dark Tower series is my favorite King stuff. Unfortuntately, I think the books kind of keep getting worse and worse, and the ending made me want to stab myself. If you've ever read the Stand, great King book, you'll see what I mean about endings making you wonder if King finally said, "You know what, let's do something ridiculous like suddenly God kills everyone. That'll make everything nice and tidy and I'm tired of writing now." That's not what happens in the Dark Tower, so I'm not spoiling everything.

Well, with the deaths, it was almost like he decided that, you know, life is pretty random and sometimes people just die for no reason.  (Like in Cell, if you read that one, you know who I mean)  There are 2 deaths in Dark Tower I can think of where it's like that.

Yeah, I agree. I haven't read Cell, but I know what you mean in DT. It's more with endings in some of his better works that they become so abrupt - like with the Stand. My opinion of the end of DT is that I don't like the decision he made, I wanted epic and got mundane. But that's obviously my opinion, and millions may have loved it. I bet he has other endings that he chose not to use lurking about his house.

Well, yeah.  It's like he decided that no matter how he ended it, people would be disappointed, so he didn't really end it.  (If it is the way he says it is, then what was the point of all those books?)  Haven't read the new one yet.  Bag of Bones is my most favorite recently- and even then, the ending doesn't answer one big question.

Or maybe the message is that real life doesn't have storystyle endings?  Hmm. . .see, that's why I avoid real life whenever possible.

It's possible he has some deeper meaning, but I'm not sure. You probably realize that he wrote DT over what was it, decades? I read the first one when I was in junior high I think. Maybe he was just never sure where it was going. Then again, you could be right. Perhaps he means the things we strive for, our fountains of youth, are never an ending but a journey in themselves. Perhaps he means the journey and not the conclusion is what's important. I like reading for that reason - each reader takes from it what he or she will, lending one's intellect and experience to its definition. Subjective reality.
