Anyone else read the New Jedi Order series of star wars books? I got annoyed when I read an interviews with George Lucas, where he has outlined the plots for his next trilogy of Star Wars movies, and he's pretty much pretending that the New Jedi Order books never took place. In other words, all the dollars I spent on collecting and reading all those books, and coming to associate the plots as being the extension of the Star Wars universe, are considered an 'alternate universe' or something, with no relation to any more movies that will come out, other than a couple names of people might be used in the new movies.

i was going to read those, but when i heard the same thing, about the books not associating with the movie, i decided not to read them :P

I have some Star Wars novels (Timothy Zahn's are decent), but I never even started on the New Jedi Order series.  Personally, I never thought they looked that interesting, and the authors...  I can't even remember which three (three authors are working on that series, right?) are writing them, but I don't remember ever reading anything outstanding by any of them.  Additionally, I could never find the first book of the series.  The second and third are everywhere!  But never the first...

By the way, where did you guys hear that Lucas was to make another trilogy?  Because in the last interview I read, he was saying that, as far as films go, Star Wars was finished.  I also checked out the website when I read the posts above, but I still didn't find anything.

Episodes 7, 8 and 9 are going to be made, he said, once they get even better at human animation. Apparantly, rather than getting actors to play Han, Leia, Luke, all grown older, they're going to be completely computer animated characters. However, he wants it to be good enough that people won't be thinking "Han Solo is just an animated picture", but will think of him as a real person.

I've even read the plot summaries he wrote, which basically tell the entire story of them in just a couple pages. I was a bit annoyed, because I didn't like the ending. Anyway, I won't write about the story/plot of the episodes, because I'm sure there are people who don't want it to be ruined, but would rather wait for the movies to come out. Either way, they'll be years from now, not any time soon.

That website has lots of interviews and stuff. Down the left is the table of contents. At the top-left are the three script outlines for the next three episodes, set thirty years after Return of the Jedi. The plots are a kind of mishmash of new ideas and ideas taken from the novels, but pretty much, none of the novels are considered 'real' star wars events, but he draws ideas from lots of them, like Mara Jade, or Han and Leia marrying, etc.

Hahahaha!  Supershadow?!  He's been posting that nonsense for years!!  Actually, he's pretty infamous in the Star Wars fan community.  Check out this quote from Star Wars Insider, Issue... 90, I think.  Pablo Hidalgo of Lucasfilm Limited said it:

The man's real name is Mickey Suttle.  He's a liar and a fraud if you ask me.  I could go on and on and on and on about what a liar he is since I have enough against him as he's been running that ridiculous website since... I guess since all the hype surrounding The Phantom Menace, but I'll let you read it yourself:

The New Jedi Order is Awesome! the Yuuzhan Vong's dislike of machines makes the siries interesting. as for Episodes 7, 8 and 9, why not use the X-wing sieries for a base?

Oh my god, I like Star Wars a lot, but I'm not a super-fan and even I can tell that supershadow shit is terribly fake. I like the gratuitous jabbering about Lucas saying all this great stuff about him and the page that lists his salary and perks. That is seriously hilarious. People should just stop going to his site. I posted a comment asking how he manages to avoid getting sued.
