Any opinions on the Star Wars saga?

Not bad. I'm not like a super fan compared to some people I know but I've seen all the movies multiple times. I don't get the stigma associated with the second trilogy though, in my opinion they're just as good as the first trilogy.

I was thinking of doing a Star Wars fan fic storygame far into the future, or at least a storygame that uses some of the concepts from it (like laser swords and hyperspace and so on).

I have to agree with what you say October.

Vader was one of my favorite villains when I was a kid (which is probably why Dr. Doom is my favorite villain now), but I can't say the prequels are worse than the original trilogy. I consider them to be quite even.

Now that I'm older I like both equally, but as a child (when the prologue trilogy first came out) I prefered the newer one because it had a lot more battle scenes (I had an even shorter attention span then than I do now lol). I like the older trilogy because of the way it all unfolds (Not really big on the specifics), and I like the prologue trilogy because of the character development and it explains a lot of unanswered questions in the first (Why did Vader betray the Jedi, what were the Clone wars, etc.), the formation of the Empire (Which I thought was genius, didn't it mirror Hitler's rise to power?), plus the Gungans and the fact that there is one Black Jedi in the entire universe tickles me :)

I'm going to use an analogy called: my grandfather, which considers the original King Kong movie to be better than it's predecessor. Personally, I think it's because he saw the film and thought it was a great film at the time, and when it was replaced, he didn't like it, so he created an automatic hatred (hatred might be a strong word, but still) for the new one.

If you claim you are different, I require reasons for why the original star wars movies were better. Keep in mind that I am a star wars fan to the point I know of characters such as Ulic Quel Droma and Exar Kun and I still thinks the prequels are just as good as the originals.

Weren't the prequels predictable because you had seen the originals first and knew that Anakin would become Darth Vader and the Jedi would become nearly extinct after it turned Palpatine turned the republic into his own empire? Don't try to tell me you would have known that would happen if you were clueless to the plot in whole when you saw the prequels.

Yeah, after the twists occurred. I don't think anyone could have figured out Anakin would turn to the dark side until right before it actually happened. Unless he had seen the original films. I don't see how the originals are less predictable than the prequels.

During the third film, sure, but not the other two.

Okay, and the fact that Vader is Luke's father is any less predictable? And the fact that the Death Star is blown up (twice). And the fact that Vader rejoined the light side?

Even though Luke mentioned to him before that there was some measure of good in him? That is exactly like calling the fact that Anakin became a sith predictable because of a single moment of weakness in the second film.

I suppose you mean the prequels were more predictable. I'm not saying that your opinion is false, I'm just saying why I think they're pretty even.

I actually think they are equally good. And just because someone has a different opinion doesn't make their opinion have less sense than yours Cool. I understand where your coming from though, they are both great trilogies, and most people Like to side with the classic.

I like the original and newer ones. I have to agree though the original unfolded the story than the newer ones did.

Lol, I hope that was sarcasm because he doesn't write those first because they were better, people like them more because they were first. Like most people think Fable 1 more, but when I ask them why their reasons include aspects of the other games (I like Fable 2 the most).

The first part of what I was saying is I hope you were being sarcastic because Lucas didn't write the first three first because he thought they were better, it was because he wrote them first. I honestly don't know how to write that any simpler. The prologue was written to answer some questions about the later trilogy.

The fact that Lucas wrote the first three first because he thought they were better, which I severely hoped was a joke and I hoped you were being sarcastic. If you were replying to something else, you need to learn on how to post in the forums.

No, I don't see. I replied to your statement saying I hope you were being sarcastic, then I presented another situation.

That was not being disputed, you asked if I understood why you told me to reread the story, I said I didn't.

I actually even said I hope you were being sarcastic, so I suspected you were joking, and there was no case to begin with.

Actually, you said that first. I later asked if you replied to the wrong post because it seemed like the argument was veering into another topic that I hadn't seen.

So many errors... I meant to have a period (.) between better and people, not a comma (,)

I've been commenting as well, why would I need to go back?

Actually, we weren't arguing on your beliefs any more than we were arguing on mine. We were arguing whether the originals are better than the prequels or not.
