Dust off a seat and discuss a good book here...you do read, right?

Hi guys, I just finished "A Dance With Dragons" and I was wondering whether anyone else has read the series, and what your theories are about the next book.

Read up through Feast for Crows... will probably read Dance this summer if I get the chance.

It really disappoints me that I won't be able to get it in a cover that matches the other four nicely. As I have the ones with embossed things on the covers. A Game of Thrones is goldish yellow with an embossed wolf (iirc), Clash of Kings is purple with an embossed crown, Storm of Swords is blue with embossed sword(s? Don't remember if it's one or two), Feast for Crows is red (though kind of pinkish if I remember correctly--I don't have them here with me) with embossed crow.

For the same reason, as well as price, I was waiting for the paperback to actually buy it. My main interest in DwD is because Bran is one of my favorites and I want to know what's going to happen with him.

I have only read the first one, and half of the second one. I really like what I have read, but I get sidetracked and end up reading a different book a lot of the time. I am hopefully going to get back to those ones fairely soon.

Fun Fact: The guy who writes the series is planning to make two more books for the series bringing the total to seven books.

I wonder how long that plan will last. Or take...

It might be more though, as he had to split up the third book, and I think FfC and DwD were originally supposed to be one book, since most of the plot overlaps.

Yeah, they were supposed to be... and the release date for DwD was pushed back -many- times. To the point where I think a lot of fans were honestly expecting it to never actually be completed.

SPOILER ALERT!!

Ha, be ready to be disapointed. Bran is one of my favorites, but not anymore. I liked Robb. I like Jon. I liked Cate. I liked Ed. I liked most of them, and most of them are dead. It really pissed me off.

Ed?

I don't mind the deaths. Most books have a few core characters you know won't die making the book predictable, but in aSoIaF there are no such characters, something I find makes the action more exciting.

Although there are also quite a few apparent deaths where people survive or are resurrected, so by now I'm not convinced anyone is dead before someone sees the body.

I love the fact that everyone in the books are vulnerable. You have no idea who will live and who will die and it makes it a hell of a lot more exciting.

I just got past The Red Wedding and holy shit that was a shocker. Not nececarily the deaths (although they were shocking as well) but what they did to the body was messed up.

I read some were that he said he was never doing that again, but then again you can't trust everything you read so I'm not sure I beleive that.

Eddard is Ed. And I agree I like the suspense, but damnit! Why Robb? I really, really hope he doesn't kill Jon off.

I honestly wouldn't care much if he kills Jon; I liked him at first, but as time went on... not so much.

It pissed me off that he broke his oath. Yeah, sure, it's realistic enough that he would want to bang that girl badly enough to break the oath, but still...

Ned was cool, but I'm not sure he would have remained interesting if he'd lived longer.

Having read only through Feast, my favorites (as I remember):
-Bran
-The Hound
-Theon in a "I kind of like seeing you be slowly destroyed..." way.
-The two Reed kids
-Littlefinger (in a "...Yeah you're a bit slimy, but that's okay" way)
-...And probably others that I've since forgotten. I know that Jaime became suddenly tolerable to me after he lost his hand.

I know what you mean about Jamie, GRRM has a tendency to make the ugly guys good and the hot guys bad.

I quite like Jon, and he kinda had to bang Ygritte in order for the wildlings to trust him. Though I'm sure he didn't need that much convincing :P

I really love missandei though, she's been through a lot and she's really smart.
