I distinctly remember reading a mildly okay CYOA book called "Project Mongoose" or something, which was about an ambiguously teenage superspy whose face could never, under any circumstances, be revealed to the reader. It was also up to its ears in "House of Hell"-type bullshit that would have seriously fucked up the plot if all parts were canon and the story didn't end immediately after the mission...
