We wanted at one point to add a "formerly featured" icon to stories, but we haven't been able to agree on a way to do it, so it never got done. Although admins would be able to see that a story had been featured, nobody else would have any idea (except maybe by the ranking.)
To answer your question, MAU would have been "unfeatured" as in, it would have been taken off of the top five stories for that category, and JJJ's story would have taken it's place.
It was MY opinion that MAU was the weakest of TSM's stories, but there's room for argument that perhaps it's "The Object." If anyone wishes to perpetuate that discussion, I'm all ears.
