LabRynth: Season of Blood

While conducting your Biology research course you have been invited in a particularly shady laboratory. The professor greets you coldly as his servents hurriedly takes your belongings inside. This place gives you the creeps. You take one look at the watch, and follow him inside, cursing this place with every step inside. Orange autumn leaves fall outside, admist a slow rainfall. The clock strikes twelve and the sounds sends a shiver down your spine. It is the Season of Blood... This is the progress thread for my story. This is going to be an equal combinagion of story and game and will feature some degree of character customization. I expect to write about 2-3 pages a day. Current Progress - 0/??? pages

Don't bite more than you can eat. Scripting is good, but don't forget about the deadline... and your determination. Be sure that everything you do won't be wasted later on.

There will five available skills to select from resulting in 10 possible character combinations. You will also have to manage you health and sanity status. The main goal will be to escape the laboratory in one piece with a sane mind.

Are you planning to include uses for all the skills or alternate story paths based on them? Character skills I've always seen as one of those things that don't have much reason for being included unless they have significant impact throughout the story, and so each one you add is going to mean a non-trivial amount of extra work.

Do you consider this more of a puzzle-based game, with the emphasis on managing stats, or will it be heavier on plot?

It is pretty simple. You will have to choose two skills from a list of five at the beginning. Depending on what skills you have, some extra choices will be given to you at some pages. For example, if you have the skill Chrisma (not an actual skill in game) you might get an extra choice to persuade someone in giving you some crucial info that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Hence it will be possible to create actual character without the use of stats and such. You might take Lockpicking and Agility to become a thief or Brawling and Shooting to become a skilled fighter, etc.

Seems like you've got yourself a more realistic target this time, which is good. May Cysid watch over your storygame writing process!
