Write a story about a person who is slowly dying because a version of his in another universe/timeline passed through the "barrier" separating them and is slowly overwriting their molecular structure. 

By the way, if none of these ideas are enticing to you, try reading some fiction that may inspre you. It can get you far, I can tell you that.
